have to admit i was going to drop this but i wanna know more about that girl, i guess will go for eps 2

the fight was bad, the guy who use the impact boom missed so many times that it is unbelievable... or maybe Ryouta activated an invisible shield to block the explosion?

Yeh the time bombs were dumb at best, but we can give him some slack thinking that his brain went dead after someone tried to kill him. What is important is how little bombs they actually have, he had like 8-10 of those.
So unless you are really pr0 at killing people or you are lucky enough that your kills have a lot of bombs, you will run out sooner than later.
I mean he used like 4-6 bombs on 1 guy thats more than 50% of his stack.

As for the MC, it looks like the bump to the head caused amnesia, which is so common in action stories, it's not even funny. The getting caught and stuck on a parachute and thrown into an unknown forest to fight instantly made me think of Predators (2010). Let's see where this story heads, as it seems like allies are going to made. We still don't even know what the rules and goals of this "game" is yet.
Yeah they were both pretty terrible to start the game. I wonder if it was just a beginners thing or if that guy was actually that incompetent though. It seemed like Ryota was slow to figure out the way the bombs worked (painfully slow), but once he did he made quick work of the guy. Now he must face the challenge of Meat.

Possibly the most ominous thing in this episode was the death glare his mother gave him just before he appeared to be transported to that island. Almost makes you wonder if she had something to do with it somehow.

The first episode was pretty slow plot-wise, it's good they're taking their time. Online games animes seems to be popular nowdays, uh?

Well in a game that revolves around bombs, I think a certain level of extreme incompetency has to be present else they just one hit kill you.

I am actually a bit skeptical of how bombs will factor into the action here because if most of it is going to revolve around people narrowly missing or dodging the bombs, I can't think the action will be that exciting.

So far the more interesting aspects of the episode revolved around the main character's life with his mother, as creepy as it was.

Will just have to wait and see.

I decided to watch the first episode on a whim.. and I really liked it. I'll definitely keep watching this. Oh, the art is pretty good, too.

Man.. that OP is really something; I just can't stop listening to it. Best OP of this season thus far.

That blonde girl is hot. Looking forward to episode 2.

One thing that worries me is that this seems like one of those games wherein the last man standing is the winner. And that.. might be problematic if the MC falls for the blond, which I'm sure he will as the one he married in the game looks quite similar to her (hair style, bust).

One thing that bothers me is that the main character looks and sounds very much like Light. No me gusta.

They need to get bombs from the people they kill. Considering that each person uses different types of bombs, it adds another level of difficulty and complication to the death game.

But this setting really reminds me of Gantz.... and yes, Bomberman (I believe the mangaka said he was inspired by this). Just with more blood and guts.

Why can't you all see that he had two bags? It was shown near the end of the episode. That means that he has already killed somebody.

You don't get it do you.

Each and every person starts with 1 bag. MC bag contained like 8-10 bombs (didn't count really but around that number).
Dude that attacked him had 2 bags, so obviously he killed someone.
Now MC wasted 1 bomb at start, then he threw around 3-5 another bombs at the dude before he killed him. Basically he wasted almost all of his ammo.
Now thing is how many bombs the other dude had in his bag (considering that he also wasted a lot of them).

So as I said before, unless they can replenish the bombs somewhere (from the creator of this death game), then they are screwed. Because unless they really will get a good hit to kill ratio, they will run out of ammo. And who says there is not more dangers there. Tigers/lizards/aligators god knows what else can be there besides the other people trying to kill you.

Basically my whole post was about the ammo issue, and here you jumped out with 2 bags ^^.

Also funny thing is that dude got ripped to shreeds, but his bags were fine and dandy. Some nice kevlar bags they got there.

Don't want to get to much into it really, as we would get into the spoilers (even though I just read few chapters months ago).

Doesn't matter. They blew up with him, which has to happen a lot in this game. So, yeah, they need to find more bombs. Or learn to kill without them, whichever.

No mate they didn't at the end of the ep, you can see 2 bags bloodied at the shore. So bags are kinda *explosion proof*. Already did state that in my previous post (but I kinda tend to always edit my post to add additional things so there you go)

Oh, right. I was confused because there were three explosions. Must have been just the ones he had in his hands.

Maybe it's just me remembering it wrong, but i think in the manga Ryota didn't need so long to realize that the bombs are just like in his favorite game.

Anyway... as someone who has seen the manga version I can say that this series is definitly worth a try.

It really does seem that way. It would be strange for Ryouta to just be randomly selected. Then again, they could be choosing the best fighters from the Btooom games.

This seem to much like the Steve Austin movie The Condemned but only with bombs

The whole tropical island setting and learn to live with the "kill or be killed" law of the land reminds me of Black Lagoon, also adapted into an anime series by Madhouse. The OP also gives a similar vibe.

I can't see anything wrong with this... unless it all turns into shit later on.

Yeah, you're wrong. The 1st episode adapted first 3,5 chapters, with him killing that dude in the end of the 3rd chapter. Well there was some reason why he was so slow in remembering (aside from the shock effect).
