Mavis got a cute makeover!
Eh, I think the episode was okay. A lot of buildup with the magic training with Warrod, Yuri, etc. I find the meeting between Mavis and Zeref to be somewhat awkward though.

It's just magic energy in the atmosphere. It's been long established that wizards can run out of power and need to recharge, and this is how it happens. The land is "filled with magic" as the first line of the anime revealed, after all.

So now that we've reached this point as a non-manga reader I'm just going to take a stab at it before the anime has a chance to say any more:
Spoiler for remember I don't read the manga so it's just a guess:
Maybe I'm on the right track, maybe not. Nobody needs to verify it, I just wanted to leave this here to say if I called it or not |

Yuri should of taken his friends' advice. Now all hell broke lose. Glad to see that Mavis managed to contain one of Blue Skull's core members though. But now, they got a big problem...
Is it also just me or does Mavis looks somewhat scary here?

From the looks of things, FT Zero's anime will be ending in two episodes. Whatever comes after--whether it's a return to the main storyline, another spin-off adaptation (like Ice Trail), or something entirely new--I'm sure someone somewhere who isn't me or where I am already knows.

That was quite a strong scene there with Mavis and Yuri. In the end Yuri decided to put everything behind Mavis. The trust she put in him, the price she paid to save him, she's someone he wants to and will put his whole trust and life behind now. It was just quite nice seeing him stand firm and say everything he had to say. Just props to the guy. He was hit hardest here. Because during that job he was still trying to outsmart Mavis, he ended up causing havoc and it lead to Mavis paying a heavy price. Never to grow and remain that child forever.
Though I suppose there are heavier costs that could have been paid. Understandable that Yuri had to lose it a bit after finding out the truth. Though I'm really impressed at how he put his new determination. A stance that Mavis couldn't have seen coming. Certainly in that sense he did get one over on her . I do think it was a bit more obvious with the anime in regards to the truth about Zera. A lot more scenes where it was just obvious that no one could see or interact with her. To the point where it's kind of "well yeah." Still, the impact on Mavis is undeniable. She gained these comrades, but the cost...is finding out a sad truth. Understandable really. Mavis couldn't possibly stand the solitude on the island. Still sad for her to find this out.

And Zeref is probably pitying the girl who is caught up by her own illusion of the dead. We never saw Zeref interacting with Mavis about Zera after all. |

His words were what can the two of you hope to accomplish, which has to imply something hasn't happened yet. Mavis already accomplish what she had to do and Warrod is too far away, so Geoffrey is most likely referring to Yuri and Precht which he can figure out by process of elimination.
