I find anime intro's quite annoying most of the time specially if I'm watching a new serie and I see the same 1 every 20 minutes. But there are a few anime intro's that I adore and I listen to em every time I play a new episode
First Intro to Soul Eater Both intro's to Death Note and Bluebird intro to Naruto Shippuden. That's all good ones I can think of now |

I hope I'm not the only one who actually like AIR's "Farewell Song." I'm not talking about that certain unforgettable and tearjerking farewell song that took place at the end of the series but AIR's Ending Theme. That song can be considered as one of the greatest background song, along with CLANNAD AS's Chiisana Te no Hira

My recommended Anime Openings/Endings that AXN aired. Some of my foundations of anime music
although it started way back 1990, I use casette tapes (45/60/120) to record those music obtained from the TV and listen to them thorougly. Last time I record that way is way back 2000 before I move on with MP3. 1.Daijoubu by Aki Maeda Boys Be Opening Theme 1 2000 Spoiler for click to view:

I'm glad I Say Yes from Zero no Tsukaima got some attention. I think none of us realized the potential of that melody until we heard the wedding version in episode 12, which was just heartbreaking.
I didn't flip through all 7 pages here, but I'll suggest based on that top 200 list you just posted, which I assume is the summarization of this thread. Songs from ef - a tale of memories/melodies really deserve to be in here somewhere. Euphoric Field, Ebullient Future, Eternal Feather, etc... Great songs with lots of classical influences, especially in the instrumental solos. That aside, there's Disillusion from Fate/Stay Night, featuring some great orchestration, the saxophone in particular. Katayoku no Icarus from H2O ~Footprints in the Sand~. Great melody with some 'Irish-sounding' elements. Akai Namida, the insert song of Shakugan no Shana Movie. Piano accompaniment and a wonderfully melancholy melody. I'll come back and post more when/if I have time. I notice people tend to ignore posts if there are too many songs listed all at once. =)

Utawarerumono's insert song, Kimi ga Tame has a very sad melody and was well choreographed into the episode. Steel Angel Kurumi's ED, Eternal Steel Angel, is probably one of the few saving graces to an otherwise rather mediocre series. Fun trumpet licks and of course, a great melody. Negima!?'s OP, 1000% SPARKING!. Great melody and key changes. The electric guitar solo is one of the better ones I've come across. Overall a very driving song. Stellvia's OP, Asu e no Brilliant Road. Wonderfully unique melody in the chorus, as with most of Angela's songs it seems. Kurokami's ED, Irodori no Nai Sekai. Rather difficult to describe the feeling of desolation in the song. Oh, and I'm not sure if this would qualify since it's more of an OST piece, but I think most viewers would agree that Code Geass R2's Continued Story (ep 25 insert song) would fit in here.

I want to clarify that the songs I listed, as of now, are not ranked. I'm sure there are still songs not yet inducted that warrant inclusion in the top 100. I'll start to rank the songs after I have enough songs in the canon to justify a ranking of the greatest 1000 songs but that won't happen until early 2011. Currently, I'm gathering the songs deemed worthy to be included in the greatest 1000. I appreciate and am thankful for all the suggestions. It's been five months since the thread was started and I'm glad it has this much views. I'll try to improve the thread whenever I have the time.

5. Platinum from Card Captor Sakura (It remained in my top fifty and among the favorites probably Maaya Sakomoto is still young back then and the voice she use really delivers through my heart) 4. Sousei No Aquarion from Sousei No Aquarion (Currently no.57 of my top 100 favorites, I wonder why it rated as top four maybe most of that age groups like this that much if I'm in that age probably this is among my top fifty favorites...) 3. Butter-fly from Digimon (I'm already 16 when this anime opening become popular to those kids and always at the bottom of my rankings due to kiddie stuff situation thing. Everyone has their own taste of music) 2. Tori No Uta from Air (Sad ending keeps me from putting it into my top fifty favorites. But it is a music that is heartwarming) 1. Cruel Angel's Thesis from Evangelion also used in episode 12 of HnG S2 (I have this ranked below my top fifty after the dreaded ending several years ago "I always synchronize the anime's fate and the music to decide" even one popular singer Megumi Hayashibara during 2001 "worst the previous singer is better suited" can't raise it back among my expectations until someone "Shizuka Itou" did this year. Expect it to climb by next year among my top fifty favorites) Last edited by christinemarie; 2009-08-27 at 19:54. |
