AVG update question
recently AVG decied that the older version isnt gooing to be updated no more, thus i installed the upgrade to the 7.5 series
my firewall isnt blocking the updates but even after updating it says that the Internal Virus Database is out of date, i tried to upgrade again but it says i already have the latest virus database update, does anyone know if AVG is going to release the beter virus database update? |

Someone who doesn't even know AVG has always had a Free Edition has no right to be saying it's crap (likely has not even tried AVG). Not that I've ever done any comparisons, but then the fact that I've never had a virus problem is enough for me.
My virus database is up to date and is version 286.15.18/586 and was realesed yesterday. What does yours say? |

I remember from an earlier incident, if an update is corrupt, it wont update at all anymore.
AVG Control Center->Update Manager->Settings->Advanced tab->... But I cannot find the feature (neccessary to remove temporary update files) anymore. Maybe its not implemented anymore. Grisoft suggest you check your system clock (date/time), but I suppose you already did that.

you can also try updating it yourself by downloading the update from the website... if that don't work, you might have a virus...
I had a virus called fakemsn8 or something last time that prevented me from getting any update... surprisingly, my spybot picked it up... LOL but yeah... scan you computer and see if it's a virus problem... try the online scanner if you don't trust your current copy of AVG... AVG 7.5 is a great improvement over 7.1 and don't let the online review fool you, 7.5 perform quite a bit better than the old 7.1 with wildcards so stick with it Besides, it still the least memory intensive Anti-virus around and it's free!

Given that I said that Avast! ALSO has a free version, it is obviously that I am aware of that. I have used all of AVG free, Avira AntiVir and Avast! free, and Avast! is the best.
Least memory intensive? Don't try to steal NOD32's thunder here. |
