Gothicmade is alive!

The long awaited new animation project from Nagano (creator of Five Stars Story) will be unveiled on March 20th when Newtype holds their 25th Anniversary celebration event. This project was first announced way back in 2006 and is something Nagano has been personally working on for ages. I used to joke that the project was probably not canned, but Nagano was probably drawing every single keyframe himself for over 3 years. Maybe it's not a joke anymore...

Holy Mother of Jesus! I was wondering the other day I the site was still up after all this years instead of being taken down à lá Bushilord or if it would be stuck in eternal development hell like Velvet Underworld, but it seems that Nagano's is finally coming to fruition. I was pretty interested back then and I still am pretty excited to see what comes out of this.

Automatic Flowers Studio is Nagano's own studio. He might possibly be the only one working there too! :lol

Lol yeah, that's what I meant with which studio. Never heard of that studio before. No wonder it took him that long to make this. I wonder if the mecha will be in 3d or traditional 2d.

When it was originally announced, it was specified as a non-CG animation, and is supposed to be entirely traditionally animated using key animation drawn by Nagano himself. If he really took 4 years to animate this, it could be.... pretty.... interesting.

Very interesting indeed. I detest cg animation. Especially more recent one used in anime (old school cg ftw). CG mecha's never work. Only good CG mecha anime scenes are from Macross Zero and some Frontier ones (that I've seen).
Nagano hasn't done anime before, has he? I only see him credited as art design (mecha art etc) for animes. I wonder how well he will do with animation.

If Nagano has actually been working on this solid since it was announced by himself, this will truely be an interesting outcome.

I don't think this is a series. It's probably a short film or a movie.

As expected, Maria Kawamura will be singing the theme song for Gothicmade. A special promo trailer will be released on the Newtype Channel online on the 21st of March, after the Newtype 25th Anniversary event.

The trailer's up now! The animation is sooooooo retro. Glad to see tons of detail on the airships, and real traditional animation used for all the mechs and vehicles. <3

There was some stuff back in Newtype USA in O5, I'll copypaste the summary I found:

"On a tiny colony world named Carmine, young women known as Songstresses inherit the generation memories of those who came before them, using their knowledge to help a populace that suffers under the harsh policies of the ruling interplanetary league.

Newly reborn as a Songstress, 16-year-old Bellin Ajelli sets off a holy pilgrimage across the planet. Rumors of a possible terrorist attack result in Prince Truhallon of the militant Donau Empire being sent in to protect her, but his very presence is the antithesis of everything Bellin stands for. The two are as different as night and day, but they're stuck together until they reach the capital."

I made a thread for this series 3 years ago and I have waited soooo long for it. I'm literally over the moon with all this news. Thank you guys.

Here's the trailer: - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bk-Ak5ggVQ

Any idea when this series will start airing ??

I have a feeling it will get a Fall 2010 release but I hope it could be sooner like in the Summer.
