Fantastic episode, absolutely amazing.
I wasn't a firm believer of Brera/Ranka's pet being a Vajra baby before (it's just too God damned cute), but this episode really is bringing it all together. I also liked this, of the VF-27's cockpit. The mecha porn and scenes between Ranka and Alto were nice Shame about the 33rd fleet though. I can't wait until next episode. |

But if Sheryl becomes pilot does that means there won't be any concert from now on? I love her concerts and I doubt Ranka concert would reach that level of awesomeness. Just moe, cutesy stuffs

Why can't every episode have this kind of production value? It's almost like watching an entirely different series compared to...pretty much every episode since the first one, and by first one I mean the Deculture version, not the PoS TV airing. Something tells me the story that they want to tell would have been more appropiately abridged into an OVA series.

I am now seeing Leon and his boss behind him getting used for all this. Or maybe Leon and his boss is playign along with all this so they can obtain LAI's technology for themselves. |

It's uncomfortable too look at him during certain scens, and I sensed yuri-undertones between him and Ranka.

Frontier just got even more awesome then before.... now I have to wait 7 more days before the next dose. DOH!
Thoughts about episode 13 that still stick in my mind: Ranka - guess quarter Zent doesn't have pointy ears. I always wondered what shape are her ears underneath that moe-blob hair of hers. That got answered this episode. And as someone already pointed out, Ranka's belly glowed purple after the Vajra Queen was injured/in pain does not bid well for her long term well-being. This along with the Vajra sample in the Global's lab with Ranka's picture in it make me wonder if Ranka's parents experimented on her in some way. Alto - he is definitely still pretty emo. Seems to be moving forward in his relationship with Ranka somewhat, but since he's such a blockhead, progress is slow. He appeared to be really concerned that Ranka got kidnapped this episode, but he always took his responsibilities seriously. So I didn't attribute his strong reaction this time to any dramatic increase in love for Rank. Rather, I think he would have reacted with the same emo attitude if it was Sheryl that got kidnapped. On the fighter piloting front, he needed two life lines this time to save his ass from Brera's VF-27 (1. by Michael, 2. by Grace calling off Michael due to DE going off). It's only episode 13, so he still has half the series left to grow. Let's hope he becomes more bad ass instead of wimping out a la Gundam 0083. Grace - we haven't seen the last of her by a long shot. She knows what's going on, and the way she ordered Brera off and told him she'll have further orders for him is not someone who's gonna die the next few minutes. She'll be back either as another clone or cyborg or sentient AI. The conspiracy plot thickens. I wonder how much of the Frontier and Galaxy's military-industrial complex are in on this conspiracy. The original plot by Grace probably was for Sheryl to go to the planet and get sick. The Zent rebellion then happens, rousing the Vajra hive. She then activate the dimension eater, killing the 33 Marine Fleet, Sheryl and start a war between Frontier and Vajra colony. The arrival of Ranka and Michael puts a twist on things, and Sheryl surviving is probably unexpected. It will be fascinating to see how these factors impact the on-going conspiracy. Finally, the link between purple crystals and Vajra are pretty established now. So why do Sheryl have the purple crystal earring. How does her mother fit into all this.... Arrg. Next Thursday is a loong time away. Guess I'll watch Episode 13 again. |

I am almost certain that at least LAI are being used as dupes... it isn´t a very good business model to get your own factories blown out of the sky, which could very much happen with the Vajra attack on Frontier next week.

Has anyone here read the novel 'altered carbon' by Richard Morgan? In the novel humans colonize planets by sending colonys ships with people in suspended animation aboard first, and on the way the ships drop communication devices similar to the ones used in macross to speed up broadcasting across space. In 'altered carbon' however they are used to send people's minds (converted into digital information) at FTL speeds where they are downloaded into artifical bodies i.e prosphetics or clones. Considering how Grace was a cyborg, it is not entirely beyond the bounds of possibility, she could of just broadcasted her mind back to frontier through a device similar to the one as mentioned above that was set up by L.O.E and then download it into a prosthetic body. |

This episode was incredible. Okay the last episode wasn't bad but I've been sort of disappointed how much this series was focusing on the pop idol stuff and the love triangle. But finally this episode had some great action, drama, character moments and an excellent cliffhanger. I hope the follow up episode will be just as good.
And while Brera is the bad guy now I am almost thinking that he will be the one who ends up with Ranka. Unless he is her brother, but I am still not convinced of that (although a lot of stuff is pointing to this). And I know a lot of people guessed beforehand that Grace was up to no good but that was still a pretty cool reveal. I also loved Sheryl and Michael coming in to help Alto. I really enjoy that Sheryl is a pilot too now and not just a pop star. Last edited by Kirarakim; 2008-07-04 at 07:18. |

Hikaru was stunt pilot from a family of stunt pilots. Max and Kakizaki had hundreds of hours in a simulator before they were allowed to fly, and they were under somewhat dire circumstances. Alto had attended flight school for two years before joining the SMS, and he still had to go through whatever testing they deemed appropiate. Michael has his "sniping heritage ()" so he's probably had his heart set on being a pilot since he was a kid, and Luca seems to have been assigned to the SMS by his family to monitor the progress they're making with LAI equipment, and thus probably had alot of prep.
Sheryl deciding to fly on a whim, and probably having less than a couple months in class, with lengthy absences for PR projects... Sure, let her fly. Let her crash and burn. Like that would ever happen. |

Grace on the other hand though, is a double agent. I still want to know more about her relationship with Leon. Actually, I think Leon is being played as a fool, that idiot just don't know it. I am waiting for the breaking point between him and Kathy. - Tak |
