J-pop/J-rock as a general range.
Some of the tracks are more poppy, others like the ending theme are more straight up rock.

Actually take off the lyrics for several tracks and they sound a lot less poppy.

IMO, the instrumental version of Fuwa Fuwa Time sounds great.
And yes, it probably sounds slightly more rocking when Mio's lyrics are removed

Fuwa Fuwa was one of the ones that came to mind when I wrote that, Fuda pen Ball Point pen is another, without even mentioning the instrumental of Don't Say Lazy

Hopefully the music in the second season will develop a little.

So far...One. Episode Two will comes out next week (Tuesday/Wednesday).

The current though (based on there being 9 season 2 DVDs) is that there will be 27 episodes at the most this season (26 aired and one OVA episode).

No, we downloaded the file from fansubbers, as long as it's not yet licensed.

The front page of animesuki.com actually showed K-on torrent. So it means that it's not yet licensed (or that's what i think)

Yes, the girl with the euphonium (or baritone) appears to be a hoax. The only new character who might appear this year is a non-musician who simply is fascinated with one of the group.
