Although initially shocked and outraged at the ending, it is growing on me. The way that Reiji is shot is really well directed. I'm sure regardless of whether or not you played the VN, you were sitting there going, wait a minute... did they really just...

Man...that would be one scary sight to see... I would pitty Cal even more

Although I have nothing against Reiji and Elen.

Anyway to sumit all up... FORGET ABOUT THE GAME PEOPLE! It is anime, not game which has bunch of endings! Yeh, endings might be good there and all... but it is anime! I never played the game and I'm more than satisfied with everything here.

The biggest problem here comes from those who have played the game too much or simply can't accept that their favourite couple got seperated.

As I said, forget that game has ever exsisted and try to focus on anime, you surely will like it then.
No? Then forget about anime and go play your game and stop whining here!

Would you prefer for Reiji to die from Elen's hands?

Then there are endings which end particuly in the middle of the show...

And ending 10 seems far too happy

Omg episode 26 !

Well , the best part is when scythe is dead ! Yeah a headshot !

But hum . Wtf in the end ? i'm dissapointed .
Yeah , Reiji is dead , i thinks too .
Wonder for who she was smiling when she turn back . Reiji was already dead .
I think in the end she'll suicide to rejoin Reiji .
"I still want to stay for a little longer"

Still a dissapoint ending . All die . No inferno .

For this episode . 4/10 . yeah , crappy ending .

For the anime . 9/10 . yeah , best anime in his season .

Everyone are just unhappy because they chose not exact ending from the game

Actually I'm happy that they didn't... you people know all the endings, so why have two the same ending? We need difference.

I'm not gonna lie though... It had me going there for a bit and I almost believe it was going to be a happy end... and then here comes the cart driver.

As for the use of the ED song... I think it was almost perfect... if only they used the line Ein/Elen uses each time the song starts right at the end... I think it would have been perfect.

The anime got the ending, copy and paste style until last 10 seconds where Reiji was assassinated. In VN, Reiji was ruminating and thinking then suddenly he saw Elen/Ein's smiling face for 1st time in his relationship with her. Both of them were in Mongolia, staring up in the sky. Elen/Ein for first time showing her true feelings to Reiji.

Then, that's it. The end.

The anime decided to give it a bittersweet twist.

This is one of my favourite ending, Reiji/Zwei becomes a pimp daddy and betrayed everyone using the Sisters to be kingpin of INFERNO that succeeded in uniting the entire underworld of USA. It is a badass ending. However, some readers will weep because this marks the complete corruption of Reiji, in this path he has no more chance of salvation. He lost his decency completely.

Actually I don't care about any VN ending and the like. More times than not, VN endings are unsuitable for adaptation despite certain fanboys thinking otherwise.

I didn't really like the ending cause I got nothing out of it besides an expected conclusion for three seriously screwed up individuals who got killed like so many before them. No karma houdini around isn't bad.

It compliments the story, it compliments the title (if it's Requiem for the Phantom, all Phantoms should be eliminated, which they did) but I derived no real pleasure from it, therefore it fails in my eyes. The thing was obviously gonna go wrong the moment Cal got killed.

I think the thing that I hate the most is that Elen was left alive. It isn't fair to her, who is dependent upon Reiji, to have to see him die. Not that its fair for anyone to see anyone they care about die, but you know what I mean.

But, as everyone else has said, the ending fits the title.

after all the scheming, planning and big talk, SM's "perfect assassins" were defeated by his 2 old creations...?

i find the ending fitting, tho i always thought Elen will die before Reiji

like many said, Elen may take her own life soon as she mentioned she only live for Reiji, or she can find new meaning in life?

see u all in season 2 (why? maybe the bullet was only meant to put Reiji into sleep mode, and they get brainwashed again)

my thought on the series overall:
- best show in the spring and my top favourite of the year
- i like the way the story was told, actions are not many but eye-catching, the characters are interesting as well
- but the sudden change of atmosphere when the school life begins did make me took some time to get use to it, and the physical change of Cal is a bit hard to believe
- the first OP and the first ED and the bg music are top quality
- my favourite character: Ein/Elen (Ein is cooler, Elen is more attractive)

I will give this series 7/10:

1. The beginning part is quite good, only i felt Reiji pity for being a hitman.
2. Elen and Cal will be the best heroine for the series, too bad one of them have to go...
3. The ending is much as Hong Kong Triad movies ending like Young and Dangerous series, a lot of tragic and twist ending...
4. Finally, i just wait for 26 weeks to watch Scythe dies...haha (too bad Inferno wins all...)
