Since I only recently completed this series a couple months ago I wasn't among the many that saw it unfold but I'm pretty sure it went something like this...

Spoiler:

The finale was cancelled/postponed (one of the 2) due to a murder (that happened in Japan) and instead was replaced by something which included said nice boat.

Kinda wish I was following this series from the start now as that had to be one those "you had to be there" moments when it all started. I could only imagine what 2chan was like at that time.

lol...actually the "nice boat" was a popular comment from an user at one of the forums(seriously, I don't know exactly) for the filler instead of the 12th episode. The thing was only a thing-of -lol until the last episode finally aired and it's infamous boat scene in the end. It gained a huge cynical content after that.(well, even it had originaly some too, because of obvious reasons)

School Days was unique... uniquely crappy. But I will give them credit for something different, as your typical harem lead would cause that kind of psychological damage to those involved and also those watching. But the characters and story were forgettable, and even though the ending was truly wtf, the impact didn't really last for me. Sure I was like "that's pretty fucked up" at the moment, but in the end it seemed rather empty and pointless. Though, I usually don't take most melodrama in anime (or a lot of things for that matter) for that matter seriously. Especially not as contrived as this.

But I truly laughed when they had "nice boat" in the Magical Heart Kokoro-Chan special. Not only did they manage to poke fun at themselves but they also sent a "take that" at the censors with the sarcasm and gallons of blood. That to me, is much more awesome than the series itself, and it earned my respect. I love it!
