I think one of the reasons it sounds awkward to a lot of people is because they played Final Fantasy VI when they were little, where the summons were called "espers"... despite the original Japanese using what translates into "magical beasts" which, had it been translated today, would end up as "eidolon"...

I've been at Haruhi so long now that it doesn't sound awkward at all anymore...

Chapter 2, re-edited:

Spoiler for Melancholy, Chapter 2 re-edit Part 1:

This one definitely needs a bit of work.

Chapter 3 sometime early next week.

That is perfect! You really hit the Chippendale bits (and Kyonko's reaction) just right!

I like.

The body's a little weird, but I really like the way you get her face and hair and even the headphones down.

not really familiar with the haruhi uniforms, a bit more familiarizing might solve the body weirdness.

That and the hand. . . . the thumb is really messed up, it's too rounded and it looks like the tip is cut off. . more so the latter than the former. . .

Edit: The index finger seems to have the cut off problem too. . .at least to my eyes >>

Haha... don't traumatize me with feet drawing, even though the hands have far more poses than the feet, the difficulty levels are reverse. which is why i prefer not to draw the character barefoot.

Perhaps I should do what my friend told me to do, get those cg pictures and copy them to practice poses, and everything else.

XKazeX, the best way to learn to draw something is to take various images as reference and draw them numerous times. It is important to pay attention to detail, even with less complex figures. Also, be sure your reference photos are both standing and sitting, as that changes things quite a bit. Once you've drawn them enough you'll probably be able to do it by mind's eye. Finally, the biggest thing is never get discouraged by your drawing. 9 times out of 10 if you stick with it for another hour or so you'll have exactly what you want

Kaisos, I'm very glad you're editing the old work now. No offense meant by this, but I think the biggest flaw of the older versions was that you relied too much on the 4komas and other previous work for ideas. Now this feels more original.

Thank you for your words of wisdom, i shall start forming a folder of reference images! Sticking with it for another hour, that's sort of hard when your eyes start to sting and you start to fall asleep.

Off track of the current discussion...

What about Emiri Katou as Kyonko? Excellent tsundere voice, and she's definitely played the snarker role...

Oh, speaking of which, everyone should watch the Lucky Star OVA, for it is going to be awesome.

I don't have that much trouble with hands. I have trouble with legs. And feet.

Didn't you already decide on Maaya Sakamoto?

Also, yes, I am quite looking forward to the Lucky Star OVA.

If I may, I suggest you start with the novel illustrations at Baka-Tsuki. It would give us something to go with Kaisos's work. Unless, of course, you prefer a style other than Itoh's.

Kagamin was a first round pick here, but I'm afraid we'll only imagine a Aya Hirano voiced Haruki.

While that would be nice, I think it was meant as more of a "This is an official style used, so it'd be a good idea to learn how to imitate it"

I see then that i cannot do, its against my rule to take something and use it for myself, aka characters, styles and etc.
