I agree it depends on the genre and what your after. For rock music it doesn't make much of a difference but the heavier it gets, it soudns better with a man. Indy, rap, hip hop is better with men. Women have more beautiful voices though, its better for the instruments to show them off. A womans voice will relax me. Katie Melua is one of my fave singers, I find her voice so soothing. But yeh gender doesn't really matter too much, it just varies from genre to genre, although theres nothing to say there is no or won't be any future female metal singers.

I've listened to TONS of music from everywhere and to my experience I do like female singers a lot more then male (tho I do have a considerable amount of both). I'm not sure as to why I do. I just enjoy hearing a female's voice more I suppose. Also I'm a guy as well.

Really Crator? That's nice...

Well for me, I believe that it doesn't matter. I'm actually a music lover, yet I find lots of songs sung by both gender really nice. I think it's all in the music and how it really sounds. Gender doesn't matter at all... for me. XD

It does. The difference is very massive. I prefer songs that are not hard, so I prefer women singers.

It doesn't matter to me; and, the genre doesn't even matter if I like the sound.

If I had the the choice, I'd probably go for a mildly-accented Australian female.

For me that largely depends on what kind of music I'm listening to. Generally, though, male Japanese singers are just too nasal-sounding for me, though there are definitely many exceptions . . . and often the female singers (in any language) are too damned whiney . . . along with every male band on the "popemo" scene . . . so I think my favorite singers must be . . . androgynous! ;D

Female singers in Japanese music sound, IMO, much better than English music.

For some reason I agree, specially right after listening to some Aqua Timez.

But mostly I'll agree with that, I really have no preference, if I would count my top choice it would probably come to about 50/50

I like them both. Each have their own strengths.

-unless they are annoying, then it doesn't matter what gender at all, they should stop singing!

I guess it really doesn't matter but most of the songs I sing aloud from my i-Pod are sung by female singers because it easier for me to sing(as I am a female), but male singers are just as good.
