Well to be fair she really didn't really know what she was meant to do until she talked to everyone else in the CID and realized what she could accomplice there.

Seems to be another gem in this season. I just wanted to get some seinen in all those yaoi/moeblob/comedy and other funny kids stuff. Seems that this anime delivers. Who knows if it will become like other classics, I have good hopes, at least after first ep. Good music, good animation, good back story, no running around the violence.

Because the EVIL MACHINE OVERLORD won't appear as evil if it tries to put earnest and well meaning individuals like Akane in charge of its goon squad.

Everyone's making a big deal about Akane not being "RAH RAH" enough about joining the force, and thinking she's wishy washy for being somewhat conflicted about her purposes there...but answer me this.

Is the kind of person who was EXTREMELY enthusiastic about the prospect of joining the sociopath hit squad the kind of person you would WANT supervising the sociopath hit squad? All the people who were extremely chipper at the thought of being put in charge of a bunch of psycho hit men probably all got ranked C/D in terms of their ability to actually do the job well.

Who do you think is more likely to learn how to use a weapon responsibly? The kid who practically jumps over himself to get a gun in his grabby little mitts? Or the one who was a bit hesitant/uncertain about learning to use it safely before he became proficient in it?

I think I'll take the one who'll be the least likely to shoot first and ask questions later.

Hmm, the flow of the story from ep 1 to ep 2 feels a bit choppy...or maybe things are going too fast.

Anyway, I like her compact...to change clothes in that instant, I could use that device.

It's the sense of "if no one else is going to do it, then I shall do it". Akane knows that if she doesn't take up the job no one will. It's not a true restriction since that she can still choose other occupation, but she felt that she has to take the responsibility as being the one suitable.

Episode one was pretty good. Episode two was outstanding. Over before I thought it had really begun. Great storyboard, direction, writing.

And Hanazawa Kana was brilliant: her tone of voice created a forward-moving tension that carried the show along. Seki Tomokazu was terrific, too.

It helped to get a bit of broader social context, and to see some characters (her friends) who looked a bit more similar to Akane.

I hope the holograms emerge from some basic real clothing, since if they don't, any power problems could leave you naked. I wondered if this was actual nanotech construction of each suit of clothing, which is something at the edge of future possibility.

I think you can be depressed without your psycho-pass clouding. She's never in any danger of acting badly. She has pure motives; she just wanted to do something that only she could do. It's like she was supplementing the system, which could only say she was suited for many tasks. She wants to find the one that only she can do, and contribute the maximum to society. She's the opposite of apathetic.

she took out that device from her pocket, which would be hard to do if there's no clothing

overall that psycho pass system is like the stick than the carrot method for the society to reach inner calm.

Episode two really caught me, so I made a characters/seiyuus page, with pics of the main characters and their seiyuus, and a bit of info about each seiyuu. Just the characters from the official site's seiyuus page.

Akane's VA is the same as Tenshi from Angel Beats? WHAT....

I have to say, I LOVE THE ED for this show. I can't wait for the full version to be released!

As for the episode, it looks like things resolved how I thought they would. Turns out an Inspectors job IS to employ their own judgment in interpreting what the gun says.

Yayou and Karanomori seem to be lesbians. They really couldn't hint at that any harder. Akane had better be careful, Karanomori may get the idea to prey on her next.

I did enjoy, as others did, the display of technology in this episode. I wish I could change the look of my plain room into anything my computer could find online. That would be AMAZING. I assume you can do the same with your car as well. Make it look pimped out without the actual expense of pimping it out.

Just saw the episode. It’s really good coz it explain a lot of things while fleshing out some characters (yay for our lesbian couple ). Also, Akane’s cold reaction to that Doc-lady’s sex-joke is refreshing coz I’m bored with “innocent” protagonist who always get flustered whenever sex-related conversation is being brought up.

Oh yeah, I’m also glad that the raped victim was doin’ fine .

Pre-ep1, I don't think she figured the system needed changing. She just wanted to do her part.

IMO Akane will go off the rails eventually, she's just toogood to do this kinda dirty work. Not mentioning "dead eyes" the whole OP, I don't think she'll be able to take this job without becoming hardened or clouding her pass.

That? I say the most depressing is when she wakes up and her alarm instantly shouts out her Psycho Pass code....welcome to another day in the GULAG

She's too busy getting flustered about more important stuff like whether she fucked up on her first day of the job or whether she's even in the right place to begin with. Something tells me that's going to be a core theme of the series, finding out precisely why she got that A and what purpose someone like her could possibly serve in the dirty work that is enforcement of the Psycho-Pass.

This seems interesting: http://www.koepota.jp/news/2012/10/15/0304.html

An interview with Katsuyuki Motohiro, Naoyoshi Shiotani, Tomokazu Seki and Kana Hanazawa. Plus, it has Kana in an Akane cosplay, so this is even more relevant to my interests (totally digging her new haircut).

Thought this second episode was better and helped make me think this will be a good one to follow. Interesting to see how Akane suffers a bit under this system. Her skillset is read and she's suited for so many things that she isn't sure what exactly she is supposed to do. Nice words by Kogame, maybe someone like Akane bringing her sense of justice to this dirty job might be a good thing for all of them.

Also good to hear the victim from the first episode is doing better.
