I came across this band due to the singer I was checking out some gig videos and there I saw her . Oh yeah you can beat me silly with the racist stick . Not to dwell to much on that she (Ji-In Cho) sure can screech in tune though not as hard as Angela Gossow (Arch Enemy) . But if you do see her in a concert its mesmerizing not by her beauty or anything just by her sheer persona . Though the band overall is just good nowhere near or on brink of greatness . They have 4/5 albums out but a few singles to account for . The good ones are :

- Somebody Save Me

- Victoriam Speramus

- Run to You

- Shoot Me

- The Night All Angels Cry

Electronica/Chiptune/Ambient

This guy published a handful of albums under a Creative Commons license, free to download, as well as two proprietary ones. Very nicely mixed and layered. He's probably the first CC-licensed artist that I listen to regularly.

.
he has like 4m plays on myspace, not exactly unheard artist :P

I like his music so far btw, electro / housey stuff, quite cheesy vocal but still danceable :P

oh and I listened to Krypteria before :P , like 2 albums cuz I were trying to find symphonic metal/rock band with female lead (no male grunts please) with similar style as Nightwish/Within Temptation/Epica, etc from last.fm / last.fm forums, those guys are hardcore at finding lurking artists. Only a few good songs thou, the rest sound the same =(

Not really sure how well known they are really, but bleh. All bands following would be something like industrial-alternative-rock-something XD (never care much for genres so I'm bad at naming them)

Suicidal Birds. They are so unkown there aren't even youtube vids with my favorite songs! And only 4 others XD
"Another day" and "Me animal" are awesome. They sound loud, harsh, powerful and energetic while destructive.
Here a sound example:
Spoiler for vid:

Giant Drag. They might be more well known than I think. I'd say they go into the same category as Garbage. I really like their cover of "Wicked Game". Their myspace.
Spoiler for vids:

Piskie Sits. Finally a male voice! His vocals are a little shaky, but I dig their sound. I'm amazed that I found my favorite song from them! Also the only one on youtube ... XD Also like their "Good to eat". It's on their myspace.
Spoiler for vid:

I love Krypteria. At The Gates Of Retribution is my favorite. It's really long, but it has a nice build up to the end. I'm rather disappointed by their new album though.

As for stuff noone's heard of, I often find that in general the symphonic/gothic metal scene is obscure to most, excluding the ever popular(and imo overrated) Nightwish. This could be something isolated to America though, since I think these bands are much more popular overseas.

Elis

I found this band through a lot of listening on Pandora and Last.FM. I would have never heard of them otherwise. They're a gothic metal band that is probably most well known for their ex-vocalist's beautiful vocals, Sabine Dünser. They're a Liechtenstein based band in Germany, formerly known under the name Erben der Schöpfung and reformed under the new name Elis after releasing their first album, Twilight. I love all of their albums with Sabine, she is very talented and almost like a siren, and even inspired me to take singing classes. I think that their new album, Catharsis, is very good but it just doesn't have the same feel to me that their older albums did. I miss Sabine very much.

My personal favorites are Der Letzte Tag, Rebirth, The Burning, and Ballade, but there are many more good songs. I strongly encourage anyone who likes gothic metal to give them a listen.

Metalcore is not Metal, it is a subgenre of Hardcore (Punk).

This is becoming more known but is still pretty obscure. Many people don't know that Underoath produced two albums before 2000 that are no longer in print.

Jesu. A sludge/post metal one-man project by Justin Broadrick, one of my favourite musicians who was also in the band Godflesh (arguably the first industrial metal band) aswell as being part of numerous other projects rooted in metal and electronic music.

Also, Godflesh:

Chris Daughtry

Currently Chris_Daughtry yes Idol finalist but his album is quite interesting . Love the acoustic hip hop laced tracks especially this track . Hope we get to see more albums in the future

Chris Daughtry - Sorry

Will you listen to my story
It'll just be a minute
How can I explain
Whatever happened here
Never meant to hurt you

How can I cause you so much pain
When I say I'm sorry
Will you believe me
Listen to my story
Say you wont leave me

When I say I'm sorry
Can you forgive me
When I say I will always be there
Will you believe, will you believe in me

All the words that I come up with
They're like gasoline on flames
There's no excuse, no explanation
Believe me if I could undo

I'm sure we've all heard the song... but not this awesome recording with The Chieftains, gives it an amazing Celtic sound.

Toe, while they don't fit in the "stuff nobody's ever heard of" category, I think they deserve to be better known than they are.

Bankai (Bleach fan ?)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade Theme [Bankai Remix] - Bankai

and Holcombe Waller

I'll come back and add some other stuff now and then.

Die Antwoord

Firstly NO this is NOT a MOCKUMENTARY

Afrikan is funny Die Antwoord (The Answer) remind of you some German porno . Its a SA Hip hop / Electronica / Rave group who try to be serious and end up being just hilarious . There confused front-man adds to the hilarity that is the Band and not there music . There beats in-fact are quite nice I especially love the track Zef Side / Beat Boy . Musically this is a serious group but there front-man NINJA is a confused hybrid of Russian Gangster / Trailer Trash / Beatsie Boy

Group consists of Ninja Yo-Landi & DJ Hi-Tek . But pretty sure Yo-Landi is bound to go solo she has some real talent . She is another Fergie/Gwen in the making . Band reminds me of early BBPeas . Some of there tracks

- Wat Pomp
- Beat Boy
- The Ninja
- Fish Paste
- Evil Boy
