"Battler" as the real culprit, the baddest of them all~ XD
that's why the only person that kills Battler (i.e Eva) was able to survive the massacre

judging from the OP, if Maria is going to be a witch, then her furniture is got to be Sakutaro~
just imagine the cute cuddly little stuff animal transform under the influence of magic into a giant behemoth, and mauls the victims to death
(think i could do a fanart on that)

Edit: The preview....Is that really Sakutaro!? weapon of mass destruction indeed.

every single time battler "survives" everybody dies but now he got killed before the very ending and then only one person survives

Ryu07 already pulled that exact same twist with Keiichi for one arc, do you think he'd reuse it for every single arc in Umineko?

i still treat onikakushi as "a tragedy that could've been averted", as keiichi didn't kill 34 and the cameraman. To be more specific, k1's experience is very similar to Eva's in EP3 at the end, where she just freaked out and go all paranoid. Also I am not saying battler did all of the killings, just that he had at least a hand in the final clean up, like

how 34 is only responsible for the killing in the final parts of each story, when you can have other psychos like berserker Shion doing all the dirty works

I used to think Battler was the culprit, because a lot of the time some of the things he does/places he goes just seems kinda suspicious.

For one reason or another though, I've sorta dropped my suspicions of him.

Thing is, how can we be so sure that that red applies to the previous two games as well? Red Truth is a tricky thing, and you can easily be fooled into believing something that isn't true simply because of the way the Red Text is worded.

It probably doesn't apply to previous games. But in that one at least, we know for certain he wasn't guilty.

So if Battler isn't A culprit in EP3, he can't be THE culprit of Umineko.

First, nothing really says there has to be one singular "culprit of Umineko."

But even if we assume there is, here's one theoretical scenario that could illustrate a situation where Battler is the grand culprit of Umineko but not the culprit of episode 3:

Kinzo wrote a last will and testament, and hid it somewhere in the mansion. At some point, Battler finds this document. The document may or may not actually contain any malicious content, but either way, Battler learns something from reading it that drives him to concoct a plan to murder the Ushiromiya family.

In episode 3, through some odd circumstance, someone else (who knows, maybe Eva) finds the document before Battler does. This person burns it, preventing Battler from ever reading it, so he never becomes homicidal.

Maybe this person who found it before him becomes the new culprit of episode 3, maybe they don't. It could be someone entirely different whose plans were coincidentally foiled by Battler in other episodes. Either way, this situation fulfills the conditions.

You have to remember which incident she's referring to.
For example you have (I'm using red's from the game but they have practically the same meaning as anime's)

Eva was with you (Battler) the whole time.
So committing a crime was impossible for her. (Eva)
Of course, that refers to the time Nanjo was murdered, there's no way Eva was with Battler all the time on Rokkenjima.
In the same way
Battler-kun isn't the culprit. regarding Nanjo's death.
Of course you can always argue about loopholes but, well, this just seems logical

And about the red applying to earlier games

Ushiromiya Jessica has not committed murder
Just by using that Jessica could be claimed innocent in all murders through games 1-3, I don't think it works that way.

And a little bit a bout Ep19
Sakutarou's VA is one of my favorites and I expected her to sound a little cuter, but it's by no means bad.
And I'm sure making cuts and fast pacing will be worth it.

Honestly, Battler being the culprit would be terrible writing. There's also the fact that he has an alibi for pretty much every murder.

It is actually the other way around. The author of the visual novel said that the original gives more clues. However, he also said there are more fake leads in the original.
