hey, can anyone suggest any good shojo anime? preferably one that is cute and funny.
She enjoyed fruits basket and fmp: fumoffu.

Also she told me about a gender bender with a girl named megumi? she said that megumi that thought she was a boy who was transformed into a girl, but was a girl with a boyish personality? anybody know? was a while ago she says. but i would appreciate it.

but mainly cute and funny, but romantic. not fan service ones please. I dont think she would appreciate it lol.

Ouran High School Host Club is quite funny and charming.

Kimi Ni Todoke and its second season might be worth a look as well. It's a very heartwarming and sweet romance series. It's also quite funny and cute as well.

I'd start with a few episodes of Chi's Sweet Home as an appetizer. You can watch three of them in less than ten minutes.

As for your original request, I'd suggest Nodame Cantabile, REC, and, if you can find it, Saiunkoku Monogatari.

I will also second REC and Saiunkoku Monogatari (seasons 1 and 2 both).

For some reason the To Heart series also jumped to mind when I read your first post too....

^To Heart is no shoujo though. His gf has to be okay with moe/otaku-themed stuff to like it, and lots of female anime fans...aren't.

I second Ouran for a rare good shoujo comedy anime. In the same vein she might like Special A, albeit it's frankly not as good.

Second Nodame as well. It's really, really good. The drama is even better actually.

Oh yeah, and you might try Aishiteruze Baby. Yuzuyu is 120% cuteness in human form. The show isn't all out comedy but it's light and gentle at heart.

Also, in case your girlfriend likes FABULOUS (...max) bishies, the currently airing Mawaru Penguin Drum is the most fabulous thing in anime since Code Geass. Be warned, it may turn deadly serious on us at any moment.

Yes, Tenshi na Konamaiki. ANN, MU links (the anime is an adaptation of the manga).

I'd say maybe Kobato. it's definitely cute and funny while it steadily becomes romantic with a good ending and no fanservice either

Hmm ... I had thought season 1 might have fit the bill (season 2 prolly not). No problem though - just a suggestion, after all.

Ouran High School Host Club. Defiently.
School Rumble is a Romantic comedy with a big love triangle. Its really worth a watch. When you get into the first few episodes you cant get enough (:

I think I might know the one your gf was talking about. It's a manga called fly high and it's not gender bender per se. The protagonist is a girl who got raised with her dad thinking she was a boy and she started to get trained by him, then when she moves her mother takes the opportunity to turn her back to a girl... I won't say anymore since I don't want to spoil it for you if you read it!!

Kare Kano fits the bill very well. The comedy is really well done, and there's a great deal of sweetness to it. I think you will have a great time with it.

The GenderBender anime your girlfriend watched was called kampfer. I enjoyed that too despite not particularly enjoying genderbender anime.
I also think you both would enjoy Azumanga Diaoh!

Uh guys, no, that anime was, as I said above, Tenshi na Konamaiki. It had exactly the plot, the main character's name (Megumi), and the twist (that was actually a spoiler) as what his girlfriend said.
