Hmm, I wonder if anyone has any options about this image here: http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/8...nual080809.jpg

It's kinda big, but I think I posted it at the image thread...

Anyway, I was just wondering if we're still going to continue using Telestina or Therestina? o__o;;

It officially says Therestina so guess we go that way

Well, the Japanese have this habit of using "R"s where they should be using "L"s when they try to spell something in english, since there is no "L" in the Japanese language at all. Thus they're in the habit of speaking any western "L" sound with an "R" vowel, and end up carrying this habit into whenever they try to spell "L" words in english.

Where's that screenshot of "Operation Clitical" when you need it.....

As far as speech is concerned, the mistake can go either way. There's no "L" or "R" sound in Japanese but rather something in between. Therefore, when working with English, it's hard for a Japanese speaker to distinguish between the two.

Nevertheless, romanization conventions dictate that the sound is depicted with an "R", hence they might be more likely to misspell English words with that letter too.

I know, I just forgot to put "and vice-versa" in my post above.

It's where we got the term "Engrish."

You can skip it if you want to; it's mostly slice of life with a bit of action mixed in. I found it pretty enjoyable as a casual watch though.

If you want the serious part of Railgun, go and read the manga.
If you want the slice of life of Railgun just for the sake of watching Mikoto and/or Kuroko, there is the anime.

IMO, the set pieces are vastly superior to anything you'll find in Index (better storyboarding/direction + strict budget management that allowed them to splurge whenever it was necessary). The Railgun team did an excellent job on the key action episodes. However, there aren't many of them.

You should cus its good . I'm pretty sure there's more action in Railgun than in Index. Though if you don't like the science side of Academy city then don't watch it. It is kinda part of the story as the novel author did write it too. Plus some of the events in the series coincides with Index and concepts of it will appear in Index.

Railgun (anime) is kind of less talk; more action if you compare it with Index.

But it has less talk so it feels like its more straight to the point.
Fine I'll reword it.
Railgun has better action not more action. Happy?

Let's see how they do this arc and it might change

If it's about Accelerator we already have a sneak peek in episode 7 so we all know what to expect... Only with more blood this time.

In all honesty they're both pretty much the same, only that in Railgun we get plenty more flashy colours courtesy of Mikoto so let's just leave it at that -_-

Besides, we all know that the best action scenes are not from Index or Railgun, but from Group... And they aren't even animated yet! That's how awesome they are!

Even I'll change my mind about Railgun having more action if Accelarator starts having more scenes like in episode 7.

Now this couldn't be farther from the truth, since, y'know, JC Staff tried to make Railgun slice of life. Not sure how that gives it less talk.

And on this (even without the current Index arc), let's just agree to disagree. Strongly disagree.

Only if somebody really gets injured or gets near death experiences during your flashy "action" .

As Shinji said I agree to desagree.

What I meant was less preaching when there's action.
Railgun still has the better action though IMHO. I mean its directed and choreographed better. Though now that I notice it is not as much as I thought since it is part slice of life.

I do like Mikoto's flashy colorful scenes more than Touma's falcon punch.
Different opinions for different folks I guess.
Though I do get the point that I haven't read the novels and all my basis is from the anime of both series. And I do like Index also.
