Oh my god what an end for Soresta...

So it turns out that heat joined up with Soresta to kidnap Vi and subsequently razhel. From what I can interpret, Soresta is now officially a rebel but his aim was to use vi to get back to the old times (how he was trying to do that was a bit too much for me to understand).

Razhel was handcuffed S&M style

She could have used magic to get out of that but seen as she is a person who is true to their word, she injured her hand instead. Heat then switched side yet again and showed us his flash sword...it chopped through bullets

Meanwhile Soresta is still orgasming whilst having a duet with alzeid.

(Alzeid called him a hentai for being a stalker HAHAHA!!! ~ the amount of "wwwwwwwwwws" on nico made me rofl XD).

Razhel saved Soresta before he was about to be killed by alzeid and that was supposed to be it for him.

But instead of feeling defeated, Soresta's jealousy for razhel for being at a place where he can't be caused him to want to kill her but in the end...

...alzeid blows him into bits with his magic.

*Jaw drops*

Touching scene at the end with Razhel crying on alzeid's chest in the pouring rain...but WTF! one more twist...Razhel's father appears in front of her and from the preview it seems like he is here to take her away...

I only watched about up to 6 I think in Hatenkou Yuugi, and honestly, this anime is underrated.

Definitely underrated. It isn't the best zomg series but it is pretty good

I agree with both of you. The series is underappreciated. I think the first episode turned off a lot of potential viewers because it was a bit of a confusing mess. Plus people saw the word "shoujo" in the description, saw the 2 bishies and 1 loli in the preview art, and came to the wrong conclusion about the show. Add those together and you get a lot of people who might otherwise have enjoyed the show not giving the show much of a chance.

I totally agree with that cuz even though I was familar with the series to an extent even I was partially turned off by the first epi. I think we all did a collective when that aired. So far its gotten much better but I think DEEN should have handled it better.

Finally the series showed us conclusive episode that Alzeid is a magic user. There was the hint of his magic earlier in episode 7 where he and Rahzel float above the avalanche if you take the fact that the two were surrounded by different colored magic glows as an indication of different magic sources. But why the series waited for so long to show the viewers something the manga readers knew within minutes of Rahzel's first meeting of Alzeid is something I can't fathom. Alzeid's challenge to Rahzel for her to not use magic for 3 days carries much more weight if you know that Alzeid is a magic user who doesn't rely on his magic like she does. If you don't know that about Alzeid, his challenge seems more like petty jealousy or something.

As I've said before, this is the story that introduced Baroqueheat to the series in the manga. In the manga, he's traveling with Soresta to act as Vi's bodyguards on the journey. Baroqueheat doesn't betray Rahzel and Alzeid because he's not with them in the original version. He's a unknown quantity, potentially an enemy actually. His only betrayal in the story is of Soresta. Why Baroqueheat betrays Soresta and later joins Razhel and Alzeid on their journey is not explained very well at the time. The true reason doesn't come out until several volumes later.

Rahzel's father doesn't have a role in this adventure other than in the flashback story she tells. If episode 10 is about what the preview implies, it's either an anime only episode or more likely has jumped to somewhere in the manga beyond the current English release.

And the other point that I didn't know, I said betray because I thought that this mini arc was after what we have seen. So I am surprised to hear that this IS the introduction to heat...now it makes much more sense why he was on soresta's side.

That is some introduction though to steal razhel's first kiss. Heat is a dead man

Up until this point (which is chapter 7 btw), Razhel was extensively relying on her magic for her protection. So when she was caught in Baroqueheat's kiss and couldn't respond with her magic, she was unprepared to defend herself. Same situation when Alzeid "attacked" her in the room. After his challenge to not use magic so often, she became better able to defend herself in all situations. (Of course, Rahzel being Rahzel, she overcompensated and didn't use magic when she really needed it. Like being trapped in the bakery or handcuffed in the room. )

No way you could have known based on what the series showed you. I'm really curious to see the subs because I want to know if they gave any explanation as to why Baroqueheat betrayed Rahzel and Alzeid. The manga didn't need a reason since they didn't trust him at that point. But the series built a relationship between them such that his actions should be considered a betrayal.

The series left out an amusing coda to the first kiss incident. After all the events occur, Baroqueheat tries to convince Alzeid and Rahzel to let him travel with them. Baroqueheat asks if Alzeid is refusing because he's jealous. After all, Baroqueheat did steal Rahzel's first kiss. Rahzel gets angry, but before she can do anything, Baroqueheat grabs Alzeid and kisses him. That way they can all share the kiss. Alzeid's reaction? He pulls out his gun and invites Baroqueheat to meet his maker.

By the way...

Spoiler for ep 9 absent character and things done differently in the manga:

Do you remember me mentioning the Unnamed Mysterious Young Man who should have been in the Larawell incident? The one who met Alzeid in the sky burial graveyard and talked about the criminal gene theory? UMYM makes his debut appearance in this story here. He tells Rahzel where to find Alzeid in the forest after she leaves Baroqueheat to fight off his former allies who were holding Vi and her hostage. She doesn't know who he is, but he clearly knows her and knows what's going on. UMYM shows up time and time again like some mysterious deus ex machina which in one sense he is.

As for the things done differently in the manga .... Baroqueheat doesn't slice his former allies' bullets in half. He slices his former allies in half after Rahzel leaves with Vi.

Episode 10 comes from volume 8, which doesn't come out in the U.S. until next month. It will probably change things a lot to make up for that one character's absence, but I really doubt that it won't reveal the big surprise that this part of the manga contains. Kind of disappointing to me.

But anyway, after episode 10, if you want more of this great series, buy the manga. Honestly, if all you have to go by so far is the anime, you ain't seen nothin' yet. The real meat of the story is in the manga, and if you loved the anime so far, you'll be blown away by the Angel Text arc in vol. 3–4 and the Ephemeral Proposition arc in vol. 5–7.

Part of me is tempted to write a spoilers post after the anime ends telling people all the neat stuff they'd find out about if they read the manga. But then if I did that, people may feel they won't need to read the manga to know the basics of what they're missing by just watching the show. It's a Catch-22 situation.

You should start with volume 1. There are chapters right at the beginning that the anime doesn't cover at all. The anime even cuts out most of chapter 1.
