The characters from Wammy's House are by far my favorites in Death Note, so I'm as excited about the second arc as I was about the first. Maybe even more so--fresh blood was much needed here.

Huh? I thought that was the weakest part of the episode. I'm not sure exactly why, but the voice work in the family scene didn't sound up to the usual par for the series.

I am liking Mello better than I did in the manga at this point. I'm still not sure what I think of Near's voice actor, I guess I'll make up my mind later on.

I expected them to cut more of the events in this episode, but I thought the place they chose to end worked decently well.

I thought the episode itself was pretty good. I liked the animation, the pacing, and the different feeling from the first arc, but... man, those were definitely not the voices I imagined for Mello and Near. Near's seemed too feminine to me - I was hoping for something a little more boyish. As for Mello, I can't quite pinpoint it... too deep? Not crazy enough? I liked Light's and L's voices right off the bat, but I think I'm really going to have to get used to hearing these two.

But yeah, still a good episode though.

Only saw screenshots of it, but L makes another episode appearance, it would be interesting if he appeared briefly in every ep, but that probably won't happen...

This episode was great...Mello reminds me alot of Deidara from the Shippuden series. It was nice seeing Gevanni, Rester, and Lidner in the anime too. Glad they had Gevanni kept with black hair, sometimes animes give black haired manga characters with dark brown hair...and now Aizawa has a beard. >.>

Near is voiced by a woman which explains the femininity. Noriko Hidaka to be precise.

I enjoyed this episode. I found it almost surprising when you consider how many people hate the second half of DN.

- Sayu got hot. I miss how innocent she was before the TS.
- Mello and Near look like they're going to keep the plot very interesting.
- I'm pretty sure some new music played. Madhouse really don't like using most of the music more than a few times...

But anyway, I don't think this episode was that good.
It lacked the brilliance we have come to expect from the anime.
I hope it gets better but the arc with L was so much more intriguing than the current one.

Arkwright Member Join Date: Dec 2006	Upon re-watch: Spoiler for Chocolate: There seem to be quite a few dramatic bitings-of-chocolate-bars... But what does our friend Mello do with all the pieces? He has thus far not been seen actually eating them, even when biting off 2 pieces relatively close together mid-conversation. Perhaps he actually is not a chocolate fan, but simply likes the pleasing snapping sound when it breaks? Or perhaps he has an unexplained hatred of chocolate that drives him to an obsession to break it into little bits? Or maybe he's just a fast eater.

Xeiros Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2007	Spoiler: I kind of wish we got to see the actual kidnapping of both the Director and Sayu although it really wasn't necessary. Lights only real advantage in the DEATH NOTE is lost now that both Near and Mello know about it. I love how N and Mello are competing with each other though Mello is the only one who sees it as some sort of race he has to win given that when Roger suggests they work together Near says he is fine with it, but Mello refuses stating that Near and him are not on close terms and that are always competing with each other. __________________

We've established he's evil, but killing your lovable sister isn't something anyone sane should be able to do.
