Just to avoid unnecessary(meaning those that you've already seen) suggestions how about you give a list of what you have already seen
'Cause the genre you're talking about has a LOT of shows, so it would help me and others if you put up some shows you have seen/liked.

Let's see what I have.
Ahem: Clannad - An anime with loveable characters, great setting, story, and makes you feel things at times. Angel Beats - Girl leads a campaign against god but later discover that each of the character have their own personal tragedies in their past life. Kimikiss Pure Rouge - A high school romance story about two boys learning the ups and downs of romance at a young age. Sora no Woto - It's about a young trumpeter who's stationed at a miltary base in a quiet town. While there she learns the meaning of friendship, purpose, and adventure. Like what Eragon said, a list of anime you've watched/liked would be good so that we don't sound like a broken record while suggesting ideas. That's all I can think of for now. What do you say?

Drama+romance?
You're looking at Rumbling Hearts/Kimi ga Nozomu Eien for sure. Plenty of angst involving two girls and a guy. The two girls are friends. One of them whose boyfriend is the male protagonist falls into a coma and wakes up 3 years later, while the other falls for her boyfriend. Angst, angst, angst.

Well that simplifies things
So, I'm going to second Clannad as most who visit this thread will.........So, I think that's the first one you should check out. My recommendations would be, Ginban Kaliedoscope Kaichou Wa Maid Sama! Romeo X Juliet Eureka - has Mecha though Now, do you mind yuri titles? If not then give Maria Watches Over Us a try. There's plenty of drama there and though its not yuri in the strictest sense - so no romantic pairings - but there is plenty of love between the characters

Toradora
The big quiet loner and the small spitfire develop an unlikely friendship while helping each other court their love interests. Clannad and Clannad: After Story One season following another, Laden with happiness and tears Cross Game Life, Death, and Baseball! Kimi Ni Todoke A sweet innocent romance Steins;Gate A Sci-Fi mystery Crest of the Stars Space Opera- very high quality The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Genre Savvy crazy hyper girl searches for fun. Genre Savvy easy going guy must keep her from hurting anyone in the process. Ano Hana Childhood friends drift apart. Now they need to reunite and remember that last summer together. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Too complicated to explain. Very deep drama about sin and redemption. One of the best anime around.

Reading your request I thought you were mainly looking for more dramatic animes, but you listed a fair bit of lighter/more comedic series, so I included both. Too much hassle to write about each of them, you can easily look them up on any page like Wiki, AniDB, MAL etc.
Toki o Kakeru Shoujo 5 Centimeters per Second Hoshi no Koe Honey and Clover Nodame Cantabile Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai Tokyo Marble Chocolate Kanon (2006) True Tears Toradora! Kimi ga Nozomu Eien ef - series Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora The World God Only Knows Nana Paradise Kiss Victorian Romance Emma Romeo x Juliet Crest of the Stars Saikano Hatsukoi Limited Itazura na Kiss Suzuka Video Girl AI Midori no Hibi I My Me! Strawberry Egg Skip Beat! Lovely Complex Kimi ni Todoke Doubt you will like these, but if you ever feel experimental: Kaiba Kemonozume Mind Game |
