I believe it was done so that the viewer would think they got it right until the last scene, then have their theories come crashing down (sometimes with added profanity). If they saved it for a week, you wouldn't get the full crashing effect, but more a "what is going to happen" effect along with a "How did this happen" effect. Now we have a "Dammit, what the hell is going on" effect, which is useful in mysteries before one gets down to trying to solve things.
As for the music, the way they did that scene...the music wouldn't fit. The scene would need to be longer for that music to work correctly.

Pretty much like what has been said already, the pace of this episode is arguably much better than the other 2.
That being said, I still have an issue with some odd choices, most notably the voice acting for Hideyoshi: for those who have listen to it, it is really quite different for the same lines, hence I have no idea why they didn't took this opportunity (will make another video I guess). That said, the message has been conveyed I guess. Maria was... utterly exaggerated, as much as L5 Rena, for odd choices. However, the lack of reactions from the others aside of Battler make the whole thing even more strange than it should be. The changes regarding the search for Kinzo and the keys are ok. completely original, but doesn't have any impact for the timeline. Like other VN readers, I was rather pleasantly surprised they kept that much of the reasoning and food for thought, especially between Eva and Battler. The later half however, piled several weird stuff over time. Yep, the winchester introduction was shown in a mundane way (for what? yet another Chiaki Kon plug? *OTZ*). But the whole argument between Natsuhi and Eva lacked a LOT of tension, which again doesn't give justice to the emotional whirlpool that both women displayed at that time (escalating yells and the like, so to speak). And again, I'm pretty sure the timing for the second twilight could have been better in ep 1-3, while the letter as the cliffhanger would have worked much better. Progressively going to the good way, but the sheer lack of details and intensity/tension make the plot not so engaging (well good thing it is for Episode 1 and not for Episode 2). as usual: Episode 1-3: Summary, comments and screencaps As for this weak's TIPS: Episode 1-3: Dubious Move:

Oh, why are people still unsatisfied? This is about as good as I could expect it to be, and with the theories actually animated when I expected them to just go into talking heads mode... well, that was a fabulous touch. I laughed so hard at Stealth Kinzo.
And what's wrong with the Higurashi plugs? It's not like something equally shameless didn't exist in the game... It's certainly not perfectly done, but I have no reservations calling it "excellent" and thus 9/10. |

I was pretty satisfied with the EP.
Pretty much in line what I was expecting. Again surprised by the number of game music their keeping this time around. Also pretty surprised they kept the Hideyoshi/George scene convo in the beginning. DEEN did skip the info I thought they will. During the Maria's analysis of the magic circle, they skipped why she acts that way, but there's still enough scenes in the entirety of the anime to mention it later. The main thing which is pretty important whether you believe in the Anti-Fanasty or Anti-Mystery angle is the keyword "Solomon" which also should be mentioned in that scene. It's a word which will appear a lot in the series in one form or another. I kinda figure they'll not say it, but it's a pretty big word of importance, I think. |

Haha, I could believe that, it just feels like a goof. Even if it is, though, it's more a problem with the previous episode (for implying that George saw the ring, which isn't supposed to have happened), since this one is about as true to the game as you could ever hope for.

This is why I wasn't sure if they'd skip the mourning scene with George. He could have been shocked at the fact that there weren't 5 corpses. But the closeup with the hand tells us otherwise.
