Well the theory doesn't sound so bad from you POV, but I guess I can't answer positive or negative as the explanation to this would be a Spoiler

every once in a while the "hypnosis" theory emerges as a possible way to explain all the events in Umineko. The problem is that most people declared that they definitely won't like this turn of events, and they are hoping it won't end this way. ^^;
I originally thought it could be a valid possibility, but I must say that after hearing other opinions I changed my mind and I can't disagree with those who prefer a different development.

From what I understand, hypnosis can't get someone to do something they won't do. It can get them to do weird things, but not something that goes against their nature, like murder their family.

The novel doesn't cover that part either. It ends with Rosa shooting the last bullets to the goats while it is implied She's got eaten alive alongside her daughter.
Now Klash is probably a lot busy with Ep5 translation (there's a lot of graphic to edit this time), anyway the TIPS say that both Rosa and Maria are "missing". In Rosa's case it also says that she got eaten alive by the goats and went to hell. As for what "truly" happened, if you don't buy the fantasy version of the story, I guess we'll have to wait the end of the whole story. Anyway like the ending of ep1: "When the seagull cries no one is left alive", so you can assume that they are all dead in the end Rosa and Maria included. However that was never stated in red.

Ok did Battler revive the challenge on pure force of will? That would mean even though he acknowledged Beatrice's existence deep inside he didnt really means it.
And with more witches joining the fray i guess its going to get even crazier now. I dont expect anyone to have any peace any time soon.

Although Rosa does deserve it (well, some suffering, at least), I don't think that was why she got sent to hell. The TIPS for Episode 2 also have Genji and Kinzo being sent to hell. The TIPS for Episode 1 said that Jessica and George were sent to hell after Battler refused to believe. Basically, people get sent to hell because Beatrice is a jerk.

Maybe "sent to hell" is a figurative way to say that their bodies have been "burned". In fact Kinzo is ep1 is said to have been sent to hell, and we know he's been burned. The kind of graphic effect used by Ryukishi for those people's wounds is also pretty similar
