It's highly unlikely they will be able to zero in on your position if you're more than a couple hundred meters out, unless you are continuously firing for a period of time.

hmmm.... CLOTHING TIME!!!!!!!

preferred clothes people?

as for me... it would be:
TOP
-white shirt (dc if it gets splattered by blood. the better it will be so that its a veterancy sign
-military/police grade vest (the one that can carry four shotgun shells, four magazines and two pistol mags for the police grade. for the military, it has to carry 6 magazines)

PANTS
-CARGO PANTS is ftw for me
-short pants with cargo pockets also work.

SHOES
-rubber shoes are recommended
-if wearing pants, i am always using a leather steel toe
-i'd be slower if i did use the combat boots

my ideal clothing? if their blind and attracted by sound, anything quiet and hard to snag on objects.

what about a templar set of armor like in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZJ71iqoGNg
Chainmail, plate and leather.

That is of course if their not blind. its just something i got at hand. (Spent over 1000 for it)

I think most people already know that. They just want to show how good they are at killing things.

Or something very similar. I'm fine with hoodies and the such long as they aren't oversized.

I refuse to wear tennis shoes. I cannot hate anything more then shoe laces. Plus that might be better since there is a lesser chance of me falling when running... Or I suppose.

What you all say? Yay or Nay to shoe laces?
New Balance Tennis Shoes are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. For most encounters I will be wearing them. If I have to go out in the wilderness though, I'll be bringing out camping boots.

Anchor Blue jeans(again for comfort)
T-shirt
Leather Jacket

I can't be weighed down with too much clothing, as it will also restrict my movement. Plus I live in a warmer climate and don't want to get dehydrated too bad by sweating to death. I plan on not getting up close and personal with the undead, so I shouldn't need body protection as much as some of you melee guys.

Fallschirmjager jump smock (wind proof, camouflaged, tough material and lots of pockets)
Blackhawk Warrior Wear pants in Alpha Green
Blundstone Style 176 lace up steel cap boots
Shooting vest
Ghillie Suit over all that

I'm looking more towards gearing up for fighting against other survivors who might try to attack hence the camouflage.

I'd really like to make up a bug out kit with an Eagle Industries CIRAS and day pack. Lot's of pouches for ammunition and supplies as well as navigation tools and communication.

Replace the smock with a matching under armour shirt with the pants and work on matching the ghillie suit a bit more with my current enviroment.

As well as some proper combat boots.

A zombie killed a mile away is a zombie that will never get close enough to kill you at a later time.

Of course, "thinning the herd" sniper tactics are pretty boneheaded unless you have at least a thousand rounds of ammo at your disposal. Otherwise, you're not going to make enough difference to matter.

Clothing; For me during raids, or out in the field, heavy leather pants (like bikers wear) military grade combat boots w/speed laceing. Any color tee shirt and a bikers jacket, the short kind that contours to my frame. And that vest ZeKeR showed (thanks sweetie!) and thanks for the FAL pics too!
During down time; jeans, tee shirt, pistol belt, and if I'm in the kitchen a camoflage apron! Oh and my favorite pair of Converse All*Stars hi-top sneakers, in lime green!
New question: When we're not out scrounging or engageing the walking dead, what are we gonna do? In other words what are we going to do during down time?

Easy: read! Books are pretty easy to come by and in particular self-teaching books are helfull cause you WILL need plenty of new skills. How many of us here know how to raise crops? Or how to build a small hut for shelter? We are too spoiled from our high-tech city-living world and would have serious issues surviving out in the wild so start reading up on it.

welcome.....

for the question of standby.... we can make several strongholds (safehouses) around the said city and if we manage to get out, the remaining survivors will HAVE to try and find them.

barricades are useless against zombies except if its foundation built walls.

those carrying snipers will either be reconnoiter or guard some of us who are building said safehouse/barricade by shooting any stragglers.

and PLEASE, even tho its impractical, bring a silencer to reduce noise.
OR:

NADE LAUNCHER!!!

M4A1 ACOG w/ shotgun

The Lupara is most effective for the CQB type as the typical one can carry about 26 shells as arms

Well during down time you always do maintenance on your equipment . observed and gather intel what to do next or try to beef up your defenses

and during that time i shall build an army of RC Tanks, Helicopter, Battleships and mod them to fire live rounds

A bamboo pole used for airing drying clothes.

Police baton I think. It's lighter and easier to handle than the lead pipe and almost as strong if not equal or stronger even.
