Right... uh, so, apart from Mikoto (starting to) raiding the labs, I don't find much to revel about this episode after the satisfying 5th and 6th episode.
Though it only marks the calm before yet another storm, but to sit through the entire episode with things some might or might not want to have to go through before diving into the storm... well, I leave that for you to taste and rate. I'll rest my case for this episode.

Hmm........lot and lot of filler SOL. The worst thing is: I didn't get to see what I expected to see in this ep. because all those fillers stole the time.
However, Spoiler for ep.8 preview:
I guess I have to wait for next ep.

I still enjoyed it, but I find it kind of disappointing that the best part of the episode for me this week was the preview. Wish [mod edit: someone] made a cameo debut at the end of this episode, but looks like I'll have to wait one more week.

Maybe it was just me... But Mikoto's voice at the very end reminded me of Accelerator's @_@
I can see why the slow pace can be frustrating, but I personally thought it was quite refreshing to see another perspective of Mikoto's suffering and how it affects those around her (especially Kuroko).

Filler doesn't have to be bad :)

This episode was a 5/5... For anyone who says filler is stupid/silly... they obviously are missing the point. I loved the atmosphere. It was extremely good, even better than what I had hoped for. The strained relationship is portrayed to an extremely good level. I really like the alternate feel to A certain magical Index. Even though both can be emotionally heavy, this feels emotionally heavy in another very satisfying deep way that I really enjoy. Furthermore, the episode without subs is up if you guys haven't yet guessed. I think the new music OSTs were really good. Considering this episode was an anime original, it really was really really well crafted. I actually now really like Shirai as a character because I have finally seen a side of her that I haven't seen before. Earlier my comments just trampled over the excellent episode before I even saw it because people said it was filler... This was definitely not filler. It was emotional development: just want to clarify. Next, I liked the scenes with Mikoto. Her expression, the evil smile at the very end was soooooo good. Railgun S has exceeded my expectations. It definitely is making a better version of the manga... I don't know why you guys think that this isn't nice, it's brand new, really well done content that's pretty heavy emotionally... Anyway, to continue. When I saw the preview: I was like... OMG... OMG... OMG... Episode 8 is actually going to be better than everything we've seen yet. I can't wait. This episode really did something nice that never really was expanded upon in the manga. A nice thing about anime is that if you have a long season, for people watching/buying anime, they usually buy almost all of it at once, so you can put in slower episodes to develop characters and show these emotions. In manga, you need to wow fans with every chapter, which is why it is kind of hard to put something like this in there. So I really applaud what J.C. staff did, seriously. I really enjoyed the episode and sincerely give it a 5/5. It had a very refreshing feel and it reminds me why even though Railgun is considered a sidestory technically it many times has a completely different feel from the main series that is actually really nice. I find this funny that I'm saying this after just having finished reading the extremely crazy Index NT volume 7 that just came out... but.. this was a really high quality job that I loved. But I appreciate action more. I'm just saying it isn't bad, not that it's the best. :P I mean I'm saying its good, just not super crazy like episodes 5 and 6 were. I liked the anime original part of it though. This is also why I like detective conan lololololol |

Episode itself was a bit bad cause more than half of it was filler x.x
At least the slight yandere Mikoto was shown at the end (although manga portrayed it better...) Last edited by relentlessflame; 2013-05-24 at 21:28. Reason: removed hint |

I do have to say, for a Kuroko-centric episode there was disappointingly little teleporting going on.
Saten sharing her card finding skills was cute . The few Mikoto scenes were very nice (especially the one after the credits)... but badass Mikoto needed more screentime! Rather than showing the aftermath they should have elaborated on her whole attack pattern... I *really* hope it wasn't because they were going for a "I wonder who is destroying these research facilities" vibe. I guess the rest of my comments will have to go in the manga reader's thread... |

Sort of a mediocre episode. That episode only covered half a chapter. The extra Kuroko worrying about Mikoto was nice, but the lucky card stuff dragged on to much for me, and didn't mesh well with Mikoto's struggle. 5/10 from me.
At least the action will be picking up next episode.

I liked the episode. Because I don't have any expectations of anything to come. So it all works well for me. I get to actually enjoy myself when I watch Railgun, apparently unlike all you novel/manga-reading Index-watching people.
Sucks to be you guys. (of course, I hate seeing Accelerator being a dick (which means I hate seeing him on screen at all), whereas you people drool over him, so at least during the current storyline I suspect this is going to even out) Wasn't the wind-turbines turning backwards one of the urban legends in season one? *goes back and checks* Yes it was. Depending on which translation I check, it's either "strange things happen" or "disaster strikes" when the wind turbines rotate backwards.
