The ED already implied it but now with the OP I guess Matsuoka!Arata is near irrelevant to the story beyond a few important plot points.

hehe, a reverse fushigi yuugi in that this time is a boy who was transported to another world. Also, they only switched minds/souls and not their bodies.

I would also guess that the book of the 4 gods in fushigi yuugi was made out of paper from the trees found in that forest. LOL.

Watched the episode, and gosh some shows have great intros. Every episode of Kotoura last season started well, and I liked that scene of arata at the school in this.

The plot is a bit confusing but I like the art style. The other Arata, with the tan skin, looks great too.

This is a pretty typical shounen show, if not too typical.
It has the you enter area 1,->quest starts->beat the boss,->move on to area 2,->repeat formula.

They cramped too much into one episode; it feels messy and disjointed. Maybe I will just stick to the manga. I am interested to see how the plot will be tied up in one cour though.

Will say the only real problem I had was Kotoha's voice definitely not being what I expected.

Otherwise while not outstanding, did alright in the first episode. Some good old life swapping. Of course handle it in a somewhat odd way. It's like they physically got teleported to each other's words, but everyone just sees them physically as the other guy. After all Hinohara still has his bag so it's got to look more like the Arata everyone knows suddenly got dressed up in a weird outfit

Though no idea why the OP(or ED) at the end there was so damn weird.

Hopefully the pacing also stabilizes a bit. I get they want to follow the classic "end the first episode with the MC awakening to some power", but that was pretty quick.

K also gives me the same vibe but I'm not familiar with K's material which is why I dropped K.

Arata Kangatari is pretty shounen story. Don't let the bl vibes get to you. If it helps. If you read/watch fushigi yugi then you will probably like this because the author is the same.

Its a romance historical shounen story.

This is why I hate that damn OP/ED at the end. It completely makes the story look like that. As someone who has read it, there is definitely no BL or hints of it. No offense to those who like BL, but there just isn't. Any guy relationships here are the standard friends and/or enemies kind of thing.

So yeah, nothing like that to worry about.

As a loyal fan who has read through 16 volumes of this manga, I can confidently assure you that there is none. Reiterating what others have said, this anime belongs to the shounen category. If you have read Yuu Watase's other works such as Fushigi Yuugi, Alice 19th, Ayashi no Ceres or Zettai Kareshi, you will realize that BL is not featured in most of her mangas, though I am aware that she writes one or two yaoi mangas such as Sakura-Gari. Well maybe Zettai Kareshi and Alice 19th are poor examples, but my point is, Yuu Watase's main concern is romance, fantasy and action. and Arata Kangatari is an example.

I haven't read the manga but....first epsiode...yeah, I like it. :3 Main character Arata seems kinda boring and wussy...but I'm sure he won't stay like that.

Hope to see more of the 'other Arata' because he is fiiiiiiiiine.

His seiyuu sounds hot. Who is that!? I've heard it! I must look it up...

Couldn't connect with the MCs one bit as it just moves from one scene to another in a very disjointed fashion. Having the whole 12 bosses already mapped out in the very first episode also makes it getting tedious really. Unless they are creative in their elements I doubt it will be decent. Not to mention that since it's gonna be 1-cour I don't think they will even bother to give it a decent stopping point.

At first I thought this going to be a cross dressing anime. Lucky that it didn't turn out to be that way. Super power protogonist wield the sword and remind me of Benkai Ichigo used to weild. The pacing is quite fast and have a feeling that there will be a lot things happened in the later episodes. Love the character design and costume of Kotoha.
