Good episode, but I definitely need subs for this one. Could hardly understand what Yuko and Kanako were saying. Couple other spots were hard for my limited Japanese ability to get.

Spoiler for Episode 2:

Looking forward to the subs.

Scene transition felt much more smooth, and I thought character interactions were quite natural. Very satisfied. Sachiko was a bit scary, though.

I've just noticed that Marimite has a high dose of "embarassing remarks." My, my.

Hmmm-

Spoiler for for those who haven't watched yet:

It was a good episode, though I felt it crammed too much for so little time.

-Please don't rush the next episode

I thought the second episode was a tiny bit rushed, but very good.

Great episode. They kind of rushed Kanako's story though... Seems like it's going to be a short season for Maria-sama ga miteru.

Just finished rewatching episode 2 after Doremi completed their subs. I have to admit to being a bit disappointed with this episode the second time through. Previously like some others, I thought the situation between Kanoko and her father was a bit rushed. After watching it again this time with subs, I think it was actually quite a disappointment.

Spoiler:

Overall, kind of disappointed in this episode, though the scene with Yumi and Touko-chan, as well as the ending with Sachiko made up for it to a great extent.

The search for Yumi's soeur?

Spoiler for Yumi's Petite Soeur:

OK vent is over. This episode was nice. As a non-novel anime only watcher, the pacing was nice as usual and did not feel rushed. I understand how come Kanoko resolved her feelings so fast. If her main concern was that her dad ruined Yuuko's life, but Yuuko was shown to be happy, then of course she should be happy for them.

Meh, it was obvious from the moment they introduced that character to begin with. Simply knowing how things end doesn't make it as interesting as how they get there you know. It's more about the journey then the destination.

The, OP's started growing on me. Especially the expression of people around them: the first and second years being all "WTF? They can teleport?" while Rei and Sachiko are more "Ah, they're teleporting again. It's nice they're having fun, but I wish they wouldn't cause such a ruckus?".

More running in the episode proper. What will Maria-sama think?

The soeur spot looks more and more clinched for Touko, what with her visiting the festival with Yumi and them arriving late for the play.

To be fair, I felt that the original novel also rushed things quite a bit.

The running in the episode - Yumi and Touko - made that scene much more cute imo. I found this episode to be better than the first; if it hadn't been rushed I would've given it a 10 for sure.

As I understand it, the novels have slowed down alot since Yumi entered her second year - if not the story would have ended pretty fast since Sachiko is already in her last year and I don't expect the show to last beyond that.

You can't really blame the animators for dishing out Kanako's backstory in one single episode since alot of the material that has to do with Kanako has already been covered in the OVA - her idol worship of Yumi and her distaste for men in general.

Good to see Kanako's problem, has been solved --- now we can both onto bigger and better things. This is going to be some juicy Marimite drama.

I'm warming up to Touko the more i see her, which is quite funny because that's the same thing she's doing with Yumi.

& oh god Sei i have missed you so much.

I think Touko is surprised herself by her feelings toward Yumi.

1. This one episode must be real WTF in my whole experience of watching Marimite -- I never thought Kanako's "family" would be that odd and CRAZY. Jaw-dropping.

I don't think a single episode could cover the entire backstory, as it's assumed that many viewers have already read the light novels. Right, they have to condense it into a few minutes.

2. First time to see Touko's hair loosen up all those "drills". Love you for becoming a bit more friendlier.
3. I like seeing the magnificent "old-timers" once again. Too bad our big-foreheaded favorite loony will be back in the next installment.
4.
Spoiler for Meme-worthy...:

Good episode, though whatever Sachiko's class was doing for the festival, it seemed kinda lame lol.

I didn't really understand why Kanako is so angry at her father thou, being a non-novelist. But I guess it went something along the lines of her parents separating, and if that wasn't enough, her father went and knocked up Kanako's sempai whom she looked up to, and thus- from kanako's POV- ruined her basket career, while Yuuko in reality was hurt during a game and went to her father because she fell in love with him. No?

Grah, I hope this season makes Touko more likeable, I know she is supposed to be but I still can't see it. I was never to hot about neither of Yumi's alternatives for souer-ship. Touko being how she is, and Kanako was just creepy at times. I was actually hoping, back in season 2 that a mini-Sei would pop up and steal Yumi away lol, oh well.

Looking forward to Ep3's souer audition (O.o) .

I have to say I utterly hated this episode and how they handled the Kanako situation. I already knew it was coming because I read summaries of the novel but I didn't like this one bit. Both the novel and anime handled it badly but it was probably tens times worse in the novel.

Kanako's hate of all men was unjustified certainly but if my father couldn't keep his penis in pants around my friends I'd hate the idiot too. The way they resolved this was a bad message to young girls. Somehow because they were in "love" then it makes the whole situation acceptable and some sort of inconsequential issue. If someone got my daughter in a situation like that I'd kill him. I have some sympathy for her, though not much, as she was as much as fault as Kanako's father but unlike her he is a grown adult. I have no pity for such a person.

The worst part of this episode was the comparison of Yumi to Yuuko. I seriously hope Yumi will have the smarts to keep her legs closed around Sachiko's father. I mean I'd hate to flash forward a year or so and see her carrying around her very own bastard. The "love" thing also pisses me off as it not like this love isn't actually two people with problems in their lives, bad marriage and losing the thing she loves to do, taking comfort in each other to escape their problems. Such relationships don't last and it's the poor child who will pay for having been born to two irresponsible people.

I love Maria-sama and its lightheartedness but when the author trys to deal with serious issues she fails. 1/10 this episode. All the YumixTouko, YumixSachiko moments and even Sei doesn't make up for the fail I see this episode as.

Offhand, I think you're the first to nuke this one down to 1/10. I went WTF not because it was funny but weird, as to how such a family could function... I mean, it's totally dysfunctional: how can a girl like her accept the fact that her former classmate could become her stepmother?

In my country, it would've been called the Hosokawa Scandal.
