Another week, another filler episode and another synopsis. I really liked this episode! Now prepared yourself for an episode I call "The Battle Against Flashbacks!"

At the start of this episode the Bounto death count is 8 down, and only Kariya remains. The Bounto have been dropping like flies lately so the odds of Kariya surviving the episode aren't too good.

Holy crap, just started watching it, not even through the intro yet. What's with all those new scenes and characters? Is that from the BLeach movie or future bleach episodes?

. Can't they fight in flashbacks ?? I mean those of you who watched The Hero ( Jet Li ) know its possible to fight in your Imagination

The only true highlight of this ep was to be able to see rukia's zanpaktou being released in the OP.

Hmm Ishida's power up seems a bit too ridculous, considering he should be weaker than his old self and that his old self was no where near ichigo.

the new Op ending chick kinda looks like a new flirty orange eyed version of kuukaku with both arms in tact of course.

but anyways if thats for the upcoming movie there prolly is or isnt gonna be any more filler i know no official announcment has been made but gotta wonder. with this episode done and prolly another episode or 2 in this filler(hopefully) that would put us at almost a full years worth of filler episodes. is that enough time for the manga to jump ahead a bit?

i know naruto had what about 18-20 months of fillers so maybe we will get lucky with bleach and only be left waiting a year before we get back to the good stuff.

and on a last side note this episode was pretty good. i do agree though they kinda made ishida out to be kinda overdone.

I'm willing to bet that the movie takes place between this arc and the current manga arc, assuming that the movie is in-continuity with the episodes.

This ep could have been called cliche delux

A bit too much flashbacks for my liking...but at least they didn't suck. How Ishida suddenly got a power-up that took him above Ichigo+Byakuya in both speed and power is well beyound me. Why he shot that HUGE energy blast in the sky instead of shooting it at Kariya is also beyound me. Why we suddenly were introduced to some new dialogue in the flashbacks is also beyound me. Oh well - i supose now Ishida is back to his old useless self and annoying Ichigo gets to save the day.
(Was i the only one who laughed at the fact that some of the Shinigami attacking Bounto were equipped with pitchforks and the like ?

All they lacked were some torches and they could have passed for an angry mob)

The "new" op was awsome though. Rukiya's soul slayer also looks nice when released. Oh, and i allready love Ichigo's new love interest - i hope she appears sweeps Ichigo off his feet (in more ways than one) and will put an end to this endless Rukiya vs Orihime debate

I really hope that the next ep is the last one in the Bounto arc - i have reached the point where i am simply bored with the Bounto story and want it to end as fast as possible.

I just hope those bounts dont ruin the movie... Well a pretty boring episode with nothing to really advance the storyline, but hey, we got a glimpse of the movie?

I guess they really have to let Ichigo finish Kariya. Ishida could have shot the last arrow to Kariya. Why the Sky?

The movie will be it's own filler, like every other anime movie based on a TV series. Also seemingly the episode after the movie should be the last one hopefully. It has "Bount" in the title.

Seems that he might've "known" he couldn't defeat him and chose to put up an SOS signal instead.

We start the episode with a brand new OP animation featuring characters I've never seen in either manga or anime. Suddenly three words start to echo in my head, "New Filler Arc." Still, it's strange that it is the same music as the old OP and a little investigation reveals the reason. These scenes are from the movie. Oh, thank goodness! We've got movie animation for the ED also and let me tell you that the movie looks utterly rocking. Now we get to our regularly scheduled episode where we are immediately beset by flashbacks. This time we see Kariya's version of Ran'Tao's flashback. It's mostly the same, but soon we get to new footage. Then we get re-runs of the footage of wandering Bounto. And re-runs of the footage of their battle with the Quincy. Gosh that's a lot of re-runs, but we get a lot of new stuff in the middle and narration that ties all the Bounto flashback footage into a complete story so it is worthwhile. As flashbacks go it is top notch stuff. It's just a bit longer than I'd like. Finally Kariya's motivation is revealed. He's pissed. The Shinigami wouldn't help the Bounto while the Bounto kept trying to have faith in them and refused to take control of their own destiny, so he's going to wipe out both sides. He's just utterly pissed off at life and he's not going to take it any more. Not the most brilliant motivation in the world, but at least he has one. I know how he feels since I've had days like that, only I get over it instead of brooding on the subject for 1000 years. He's seriously got to work on his anger management and become a bit less emo. Now Kariya has beaten down Ran'Tao with his flashbacks and goes to finish her off. Suddenly she's saved... By Ishida? Oh, yeah like he can possibly stand a chance against Kariya. Except that he's powered up. After his battle with Yoshi he's learned how to properly use his new battle accessory. (Saying that he's got an accessory makes him sound like a Final Fantasy character, eh? Either that or a meterosexual...) Well, Ishida can now fight on equal footing with Kariya and quickly puts a few holes in him. Holy moley, he's doing better than Ichigo and Byakuya at the same time! Well, I guess it's just time for the Bounto to die now so they're all a lot weaker. Even Kariya. Either that or Ishida has done a hell of a lot of powering up since the last fight! Kariya taunts Ishida by pointing out that he's supposed to be fighting with Shinigami instead of helping them. And he wears funny glasses also! Ishida responds by having another flash-back. What is it with the flashbacks this episode? And I don't know about you, but I'm getting really tired of seeing his Yoshino flashbacks. Hey, WTF? I don't remember this!! This is a brand new flash back? Ishida has the flashback of Yoshino telling him that Kariya hates both Bounto and Shinigami. Well, at least that is what the narration says, the actual footage looks like they just pulled it from the can. At least new narration is almost as good as a new flashback, right? And I want to know how come he's known for dozens of episodes that Kariya hates his fellow Bounto, but we didn't find out till now. That's just unfair! Ishida needs to become a better sharer. Did the writers just make this up now because they realized Kariya's character is a bit thin? Well Kariya easily heals from the holes that Ishida put in him. Even more unfortunate is that Ishida's battle accessory is starting to break. They both agree that they have to finish this battle before they can have another flashback and resume the conflict. Unfortunately Ishida needs time to charge up for a big attack, but he is undetered and equally determined to win before they can flash back again. Both go at it on all cylinders without any conclusive blows. Then Ran'Tao senses another flashback coming on and realizes that she has to do something to end this fight before she is forced to relive the past yet again. Using a little device that looks like the one she gave Kariya all those centuries ago, she temporarily draws tremendous strength from Joukaishou and pins Kariya in place by holding him with a dagger through the leg, like a butterfly behind glass. Kariya does not like this demonstration of her butterfly pinning technique and struggles to get away. Still holding him pinned, she calls to Ishida to kill Kariya while he is helpless. Ishida says, "No way! You look like my dead girlfriend and I can't bear to kill you." He resists shooting her for a few minutes, but then he suddenly he feels a flashback coming on, so he summons forth tremendous power to kill Kariya. He flips a coin: Heads he goes for vengeance, Tales he's a hero. And... Fires! Ran'Tao goes flying and Ishida catches her. Unfortunately Kariya is not dead. It was Tails! Ishida held back so that he could save Ran'Tao instead of killing Kariya. Then Ran'Tao begins to explode from the power she borrowed. Ishida realizes he can channel that power and I have a sudden image of Ishida preparing to fire an immense bow with Ran'Tao's sword tied to his head. (Sorry, that was an early episode.) Ran'Tao tells him to let her die and kill Kariya like the vengeance obsessed Quincy that he keeps claiming to be. Ishida flips a coin again: Heads he goes for vengeance, Tales he's a hero. And it's.... Tales! (Again.) He fires an arrow of immense power into the sky to save Ran'Tao's life, completely ignoring any possibility of killing Kariya. He's really quite the noble soul when you get down to it. Then his "accessory" crumbles to dust quietly without a trace of the rumored explosion. Unfortunately, Kariya is pissed off and isn't going to take it any more. It has taken him a little while to recover from Ishida's last shot. It's nice to know that it takes time to recover. I wonder if anyone will ever be willing to kill him while he's healing instead of making a speach. Kariya feels a flashback coming on and fires quickly with a massive blast to destroy it. Unfortunately Ishida is standing right behind that flashback. Unfortunately Ishida is completely powerless as he stands over the equally powerless Ran'Tao. There is no way for them to survive. Kariya's flashback destroying blast strikes straight for them and suddenly... it's stopped! A blast of white energy strikes the flashback in front of Ishida at the exact same time that Kariya's blast hits it. Incidently stopping Kariya's blast in the process. Who could have saved them? OMG! What a shock! (cue dripping sarcasm) It's Ichigo!! My consolation to everyone who has been praying for the surprise that Ichigo won't get to beat Kariya. Yay! We finished the second half of the episode without another flashback. The battle against flashbacks has been won! Next episode: The battle of Ichigo vs Kariya. Hopefully flashback free!
