This is just to remind everyone that all comparisons to the source material, and all replies to said comparisons, must be fully behind properly-labelled spoiler tags (i.e. no blank spoiler tags are allowed). I edited a bunch of posts above.

Isn't that sarcasm? When was the last time she sang decently?
Should be pretty obvious that it's a joke...

I knew that from the moment Manabe was able to jump super high that he would be no pushover in a fight; I'm glad I'm not wrong. It's great to see a non-typical shounen male lead that's not pathetically weak.

The whole manga spoiler thing, along with the implied fight in the episode has given another idea for my badass undercover cop Kotoura idea. Include a fight scene where Kotoura uses her powers to predict and counter an enemy's (either unarmed or wielding something like a baseball bat or a knife) attacks. For instance, countering and attacker by using his own momentum against him in a judo-style throw or twisting his arm and causing him to drop the weapon.

think there are many shonen action that uses similar superpower, though mostly in the form of antagonist (flame of recca iirc) :P

Manabe misunderstanding Moritani's interest in him and thinking she wanted him for his martial arts skills in episode 1 seemed like such a goofy throw-away gag at the time. Now... I wonder.

man after read all that spoiler, if i already hating moritani now i hater her even more and i dont believe based on the OP who koutora is all that naic girl to forget that bitch, what moritani did she diserves even worse things i dont say die but suffer much much more like ending completely alone in life without any friend and maybe family, she ruined completely ruined the completely of all childhood friend girls being the first almost yandere(possessive one)childhood friend.

man this show really going out from many cliches it's amazing i really love animes/manga like this with the balls to not follow clichê routes and being a awesome show proving who you dont need "clichês to make a good story" just a good writer

- the male MC, is a "MAN"abe with ball to throw away all that stupid ugly cliches male MCs, surprassing epic levels.
- the childhood gilr start being a crazy bitch
- the "secondary" protagonists really look amanzing(a girl who looks like have a "special childhood friendship with a chibi guy who also not a beatfull but smart guy), and a chibi but smart guy they really look like a nice couple.
- even the mc being a pervert you dont see a triangle, square, harem love, you see who the guy really love the man girl above everything and he dont do a shit to any other girl or to what the others think about him.

this anime easy toping for now in mine top list of this year animes.

Holy crap.

I just watched the first episode and got the biggest shock of my life since the last episode of School Days. I was expected some light comedy from the art style but it turned out to be one gut wrenching and emotional drama

Sorry for being late to the party but that was one hell of a first episode...

Big thanks to Guardian Enzo for blogging this btw, because otherwise I never would've given this show a second glance.

Well, reading those manga spoilers, I think it makes more sense how they pulled it off in the anime. I mean, yeah, it would be darker, but I would make less sense. For one, why would one of the dojo guys have that? They seem like decent people, they were just tricked.

Hehe, this was me two nights ago. The first episode of Kotoura was amazing. The second and third were good, too, I'm really enjoying the series, but the wonderful misery marathon that kicked off the series is the highlight for me thus far.

That's good to hear, thanks for letting me know. Now if only I could get a sixth English-speaker to watch Ginga e Kickoff...

The Secret of Haruka Kotoura 04 - The Invasion is Back On

This episode was a lot less dramatic than I was expecting it to be. Haruka going away didn't cause the world to revert to its drab state, and even her home life with her grandpa, while a bit uncomfortable, is still giving her a place to be with a loving family member, and the priest from the shrine as another sort of surrogate parent. Not to mention that before, after and during the search to get Haruka back, the show was throwing out jokes and never fully entered dramatic mode. Though I did like the scene with the crab at the beginning.

I do agree with others who have said that fandom can have a bit of tunnel vision at times. Hiyori's made some mistakes, but I don't think she should be vilified to the extent that she has. Redemption and forgiveness are admirable traits, and I think the trio of Haruka, Yuriko and Hiyori will provide much comic fodder for the future. I also find the praise of Yoshihisa to be a little over exaggerated. He's fun to watch, but not flawless. That his plans for getting Haruka out were mixed up in his head shows that he's a bit of an idiot, but he's the idiot this show needs. But then, the problems that people say he's "making up for" never really bothered me in the first place. What I'm getting at is - holism, not tunnel vision.

Still, quite the enjoyable episode. Now that Hiyori's part of the club and the first "arc" is done, the last 2/3rds of the show will define it. A strong beginning and a strong ending are important, but a strong middle is the most important part of all.

Kotoura bolted.
Manabe was all wishy-washy about it.
That guy needs more incentive in life.
It's a good thing the club president is persistent.
At least they managed to find her rather quick.
Her grandfather is a pretty much a perv though.

I laughed at the beginning before the credits.

Kotoura can't even make friends with a crab without it washing away lol.

Bringing Kotoura back went by pretty easy, wonder if cut out any bit of it.
From the manga comparison post,
Spoiler for mori:

I laughed when Manabe made Moritani cry harder during her apologize scene lol.
