Spoiler for SAO vs Log horizon - sort of ranting ( favoring Log horizon):
------ Now more Episode related discussion , Log Horizon feels like real MMOs. The whole concept behind guilds is a lot of like this in MMO. If they give away their secrete they wouldn't be able to make profit from it. But Shiroe isn't really trying to be use it for selfish reason, so it would make me think ( if he as he says money not important) it is just a ploy to unite other guilds behind them and eventually probably giving out the secrete about the recipe ( sooner or later ). ^ Speculation some one that has no knowledge of novels, manga, ... ( whatever original source). Also i personally don't think they are trying to get money to buy a expensive guild hall or anything ( since Shiroe rejected Nyantan's offer at buying the station which i assume is probably a expensive place to buy). I think they are trying to make every one an enemy of that evil guild that is abusing those new players and defeat/force them out without having to fight. Or maybe he is trying to make a deal with others. Either our great food or XP potions, you guys pick, ... . of course there will probably some plot twist in which they fight and stuff. Just my thoughts. P.S. Why does it have to be another week for next episode . Last edited by Whitemoon648; 2013-11-16 at 17:31. |

Its a good idea, but if someone is trapped they could just suicide or use call of home spell, which makes me curious if there is any instant escape item.
On another note, this episode was a nice and lively one. Seems we are finally seeing some NaotsuguxMarie bits and we now know how marie has developed her fear of glasses this episode made marie one of my favorites because of how cute she was. Also i can see how soujiro can command a harem guild with how he acted. |

Other than the comparisons with that other anime, a lots of sentiment about LogHora have been "True Story bro!", minus the Apocalypse part of course. For those who have a MMO experience there are moments like "been there, done that", and this is something that its predecessors failed to convey in my eyes. Losing the kind of gravitas that comes with "You WILL die for Real!" is a small price to pay when I see the care about world building and MMOplayer fanservice that Mamare Tohno have poured in LogHora. He was and is one of us and it shows.

I personally think there will be a plot twist ( most likely around apocalypse) eventually. The good thing about it is that we don't know what that is and we are at episode 7. Last edited by Whitemoon648; 2013-11-16 at 16:14. |

wow... Burger can overturn a city.... even the world... awesome!!
what they need to do now is saving their secret well... I think that's why Shiroe ask Soujirou to help (two guilds will be harder to be inspected) I also think Shiroe is going to buy the whole city.... egh!! then sharing it to the guild leaders which is shown in the opening scene They even will build headquarters outside guild alliance hall? Akatsuki in that dress is overkill.... I'm dying... Marie's fear toward glasses is also hilarious.. *fixed glasses* and Naotsugu showed some nice personality as well Dear Touya and Minori.. when will you guys join the Log Horizon? I just can't be patient I wonder which one is Nazuna?? don't tell me.... that big dude with make-up.... |

Well what was said was more along the lines of every building can be owned. Before some of them were just background however in order for him to do something like buy a city he would need both astronomical amounts of money and the ability to evict a buildings current tenants. The food will definitely help them raise capital however there are going to be limits on the amount they can produce and the more people they have helping the more likely both word will get how this being done and then bottom will fall out of the market.

Nah, I doubt Shiroe wants to buy over the buildings. Why buy what you can build? That must be why he's gathering the largest crafting guilds in the previews.
One of the "holy grails" (or some might say, the "holy grail") of sandbox MMO is to give players the freedom to do what they want, so far as it is possible. The game provides the sand within a box. What the players do with it is up to them. Through the lack of game rules, players establish their own rules, build their own towns, get the economy running with player-provided goods and services, form their power base through violence/diplomacy, etc. Last edited by Anime Online; 2013-11-16 at 21:52. |

Well, 5m gold isn't enough to buy over the entire city. Some of you have already guessed at what he will do with it. However, his intention in that is to use it as the big stick in his negotiations with the top guilds in Akiba so that they will agree/listen with his plan, including the guild which has been empowering the activities of the guild that has been abusing the newbies.
The big carrot is simply a better world for everyone in Akiba. And after he pulls this off, he becomes known as a master manipulator, and events that are not his doing ends up being attributed to him as well.

Please take note the channel, the timeslot, and the demographic for this show. Many of the changes done were indeed made for their sake, to make things clearer.
The blatant foreshadowing is for their sake, and if Shiroe's interest in buying real estate is repeated and focused on again and again over the course of the episode, then it's best to pay attention because it's an important plot point.

Haven't read through the rest of the thread yet, but my thoughts from what we've seen so far, and it may have been mentioned already. Shiroe may be trying to buy the Cathedral....
All the buildings are now for sale, but cost a huge amount of money. 5M is a huge amount of money. Once a guild owns a building members or at least certain ones can set limits on who can enter what, and Shiroe what's to clean up Akibahara to make it a better place. We know that when people "die" they resurrect at the Cathedral. So if he can keep people from being able to enter the Cathedral I'm guessing he would be able to keep them from being able to resurrect. If this is true, this is down right diabolical. I approve. :P |

The looks on people's faces when they haven't eating real food in month is priceless. This episode was very enjoyable both the maids, waitresses and seeing poor Akatsuki getting hunted down by Miss Boss Secretary was just very entertaining.
