Yandere Kanojo - A romantic comedy between a nerd and his "Yan-dere" Girlfriend
First of all, despite what the title says, the lead female isn't a yandere at all but more of a Tsundere, a very violent Tsundere .
The reason i put a "-" in the title since it's to emphasis the "Yan" in Yan-dere. The "Yan" in Yan-dere actually refers to Yankee (Japanese Delinquent) which the lead female is. So hence the title refers to the lead female being a Yankee with a Deredere side hence "Yan-dere". (Clever pun huh?) As for the story, it was very funny how the lead female Ryuuzaki Reina tries to denied at first that she's in love with the Nerd Tanaka Manabu when she first meet him only to later learn he feels the same way about her too. I going keep watch on this series and see how their relationship goes.

Ah, finally a topic for this manga.
A nice shoutout to those who were expecting the generic definition of Yandere being used in this manga. I can already hear someone out there who's a yandere freak crying foul over the title, heheh. Although I sincerely don't mean to offend anyone, and hopefully a certain someone I meant is not here in AnimeSuki. So far I enjoyed the ride-- I mean, reading this. Have been stalking intensively like how a covert agent would try to stalk an enemy personnel in order to gain classified information following the raws, thank goodness there are translations.

She's totally a sister of the Onidere girl.
Although, yeah, she doesn't seem all that...insane. Just a little, haha, "shy." So she's not the generally recognized "yandere" type. Not that I mind, yanderes generally suck. With one magnificent exception. |

Read the first chapter the other day and I thought this series was kind of cute. The female lead is definitely a different type yandere then I originally thought, not really a true yandere by definition.
Btw did anyone else find it funny when the author added "not American" in the title when referring to yankee. I guess he wanted to make sure people weren't thinking of that type of yankee.

Chapter 2 just came out.
Reina was kinda cute after she had a makeover to disguise herself on her date with Tanaka. I lol when i learn Tanaka doesn't have a cell phone & almost buying an old people phone & Reina's mom is hilarious. Turns out both of Reina's parents were Yankee's too!

Hmmm... The first thing I noticed is that Reina isn't Yandere at all.
She's probably closer to a Tsundere than a Yandere. It seems I was baited by the title... Well, that aside, this looks to be an entertaining read. The characters seem to be fun, so I guess I'll keep an eye on this series. |

Thing is here I don't think we've got to the stage where she could be called a yandere yet. While she is kinda closer to a tsundere than yandere atm, she still openly expresses herself to Tanaka so kinda not tsundere. I don't think this would ever go into any serious yandere like what you get from School Days or even Shuffle. Its odd in that she's kinda yandere but she isn't and also kinda tsundere but agian not really Well either way too soon to really tag her as anything but certainly a fun read

eh from what I gather the Online one is still basically the same premise but just a separate series.
I've seen the raws for it before when looking for raws for this one and it is little different. Oh and totally forgot about what the title means but MrT explains it in the first post, can't believe I missed that part been too long since I remembered anything about this>__< ....so yea you can totally forget about my post from before, completely useless now. Its clever word play that throws you off quite well

I love Reina'a facial expressions and reactions, they're hilarious and always so constant. Loved how Tanaka got excited over how she dressed for the date and got a lot of motivation to buy a cellphone xD
Got to love delinquent girls usually they're tough and violent, but when it comes to romance they're shy and cute |

Is this fully translated? Like up to the latest RAW? It says it's started in 2009 so it's generally a new series but I wanna see if I'm far behind or what not. It's a great read, I heard it's very similar to Onidere but I like this better than the former because of the characters and the wacky drawing style. Hope to see the next chapter soon.

Yea does remind one of Onidere altho I could really say which I like more, Onidere has a bigger group of characters and the focus is on them as whole more so than YK which is more focused on the main couple. One thing I love here tho is Manabu's outbursts, like with when he meets Reina to go shopping for a phone or when at the festival Also you gotta love Manabu's little sister, she's absolutely crazy

They share a basic concept (yankee girl and honor student have a secret relationship that they don't hide very well) but that's about it. Onidere is way, way more over the top and unrealistic in the way the universe. I see you Invincible Stuco President . . . Hmm, I want to say the type of jokes employed are different, or at least, they have a different feel because of the stark contrast between the two settings. Yea, I think that's what it is. Also, I think this one being part 4 koma or whatever they're called also changes the feel quite a bit.
They're both funny and enjoyable, and that's all I really care about, so I'm happy. |
