2. However, Queens wasn't as nice as Manhattan. In Queens you're already beginning to go into the Long Island suburbia/strip mall car zone. New York is a huge city, and not all of it is so great. But still, your train may be dirty and poorly maintained, but it's still there. That's a lot better then a lot of places. I wish Dublin had a decent train system. We have 1 train line, and 2 recently opened light rail lines. Weird thing is, none of them link up anywhere... |

As for all trains are dirty, you should visit places in Asia more. I don't think I'll describe metros in HK, Shanghai, Beijing or Taipei as dirty. The stations in Bangkok are a bit dusty (so are the smaller stations in Beijing), but the trains are still quite fine. Trains in Asia pacific are usually much crowded, unfortunately.

The NYC metro is not perfect, but it is one of the largest and most used mass transit system in the world. So it can't really be labelled as a failure. Sure it could use improvement, but I would still label it a world leader. You can fairly easily get around almost the entirety of the city without ever getting in a car, and most New Yorkers don't use cars for their commute, only 30% do. As a resident of a city without any form of cohesive metro, it's very impressive. Of course there's other cities with more modern and better run systems, but it's still has a better system then the majority of other cities. If you think NYC has a bad transport system, well, try LA! DC's metro system is also significantly younger then NYC's, it only opened in 1976. Last edited by DonQuigleone; 2012-01-07 at 15:21. |

Iran State news acknowledged it but called it "a Hollywoodization of a routine incident". I bet that made the sailors feel good... :P
US or Iran ... narratives of cartoon villains makes the true idea of them doing something nice on occasion hard to process.

Some racists jerks thought that'd be funny to put into the math problems, huh? I wonder if they will even be fired for it. Probably not.

Iran to Kill Internet Within Weeks - my initial reaction was like, "What? Ahmadinejad wants to wage war against the Internet?" The leet must be busting a gut on that, but what Iran wants to do is to impose a domestic, government-controlled intranet straight out of 1984, with surveillance cameras, ID checks, and a dozen more Orwellian security measures that would've made Beria proud.
