For years, I've heard that the design of Zeon uniforms and MS was inspired by the Nazi Army of WWII.

Is that true?

I thought it was kinda obvious from the beginning....
I mean the Head Zabi dude tells Gihren he is like a man named Adolf Hitler and Gihren takes it as a complement.

I wasn't totally oblivious to the Nazi inspriation in Zeon. But I never really read any official comments from Tomino about it, so that lead me to a little confusion.

There's a lot of topics in the Gundam franchise that don't have official comments by Tomino.

Degwin compared Gihren to Hitler in the show itself, that's better than any official statement outside the show.

My own theory is AUs will never exist.

Like brightman said, Mr. "I hate sequels so much that I consider destroying the universe a legitimate ending" would not have made any sequels. Also, he would not have introduced the enemy mecha of the week later in the show's run.

SE1 = all of S1
SE2 = S2 ep. 1-13

wouldn't that be cool if they did? it could have Amuro as a zeon Newtype ace pilot

I'm thinking the whole point was to have Amuro never pilot the Gundam and have Char's attack be successful.

@Nosferatu: I'm not sure if there was any manga covering the topic, but the game Gihren's Greed puts you in control of the Principality and it is possible to win the war by either superior tactics or taking out the Gundam early on and never having to fight mobile suits.

I had thought of that game when I asked the question. I remember watching cutscenes from game, and the Gundam was being crushed by a complete Zeong. Part of me was like, "wait a minute...that didn't happen in the anime."

is it true that Gundam SEED was going to be originally called Mobile Suit Gundam Freedom Fighter?

for some reason, it sounded more badass than "SEED" & it makes me imagine that Kira Yamato looked like some bad boy-looking main character from the Akira movie, complete with the shot gun & sunglasses
