Well maybe the reason you lose is because of your team, the only weak point on the game is that you are litteraly forced to take Captain or Pascal to fight on boss because of the weakness things.
My team is blue haired megane, badass white hero, purple loli and lovely childhood friends and winning against boss is hard, for example killing Bryce (the dude guy with wolverines things) for a side quest was harder than every fights I ever did in a tales of. It's sad, but pleasant as well, it shows that you can ask for difficulties depending of the team you take. |

Considering that my party is still limited in my current playtime, I think the main problem is more because of my lack of skill rather than wrong party member I guess I should take notes about team member also because enemy weakness is pretty important...
Also, does this game have free run or something like that? I don't mind using stepping to dodge an incoming attack...but it's pretty hard to dodge area attacks or whenever you got stuck in the corner and 2-3 enemies are ganking you

That explains alot of things If you hold L2 you can free run instead of the usual two dimensional directions, but be warned as it consumes CC pts and once it goes to zero you'll slow to a crawl. Also just in case you didn't know, if you hold R1 you can 'pause' the game to change your target and at the same time read their stats, particularly their weaknesses.

Normally if you do a side step on iron stance, even if the zone attack hits you, the dammage are greatly reduced and it gives you 3CC, timing is everything. Also if you lose, use Asbel and his "draw sword" it ~more or less~provokes the dude in front and allows the loli or Cheria to resurect.
Man I didn't even know for free run, I always dodge, I will see tomorrow how it feels to run like a beast but fighting matrix like should be more pleasant. |

More like the only good way to have equipment is to use those crystal with 1% chance of spawning, you need those a lots, and thus they must always be in your mixer. Whether it's for quest or ... dualizing unfortunately.

On the Kurt boss... Namco sure has a knack for the most annoying boss fights ever. My party consists of Asbel, Cheria, Sophie, and Hubert with my two friends controlling Cheria and Hubert... Damn you Hard mode, damn you.

Correct. Food is consumed during battle when the condition at the top is met. Gotta cook it or mix the ingredients and then cook those. |

When an item in the mixer is created, it will give you a prompt while you're walking around on the field. This is generally the only time items are created. Like C2F said above, it was more than likely consumed if it gave you a prompt in battle. Furthermore, you can't duplicate recipe/dish items, but you can replicate the items to make the dish if you want(unless, obviously, part of the new recipe is another recipe).

Well there's plenty of gem ... Overgrown crystal, Dark matter crystal, holy I would need to go on the PS3 to find all of them. I have at least 12 of them.
As for the food, so far as I understood it, you just need to create it once, after this you put it in the mixer and it's done as much time as you need. I don't think you need the ingredients to make the food since so far I never fell low in carrots. Btw Spoiler for Spoil:

I just started playing and finished the first chapter last night on Hard difficult and probabyl only breezed through it cause of Sophie. You know what Sophie is? She's that one character that's always with you at the start of Fire Emblem games that comes pre-promoted and can just level anything in the playing field but hogs all the experience. I pretty much had to control her and tended to leave the other guys to die and revive outside of battle because you can pretty much solo the whole childhood arc with her she's so fast, a tank and hits hard and multiple times. I'd liken the experience to playing Ibuki in SSFIV if Ibuki hit for someone like Ryu's damage.
I was pleased to see the introduction of the B-Artes which seems like it's going to make the adult arc a lot more fun and opens up the battle system to far more experimentation. It really does feel like they've managed to make this game work out more as a fighter and I already enjoyed the first five hours of this more than I did Final Fantasy XIII which was my last PS3 JRPG. The story is passable, but the pacing and exploration around Lhant was pretty much where it needed to be for a tutorial and the length spent justified considering it's a pretty radical change to the combat engine. Standout characters...obviously Sophie for being all mysterious and an SFSD battle loli in form fitting costume with a great fighting style that can leap straight up into the air and perform impossible feats of acrobatics, but also Malik who I can already tell is going to be like the Wolf Eneacle of the story. Just the badass seasoned veteran that everyone looks to for advice and guidance on the ways of war and the adult world. Oh also that scene with Asbel and Sophie running to the cottage...clearly Sophie used the exploit from Symphonia where if you reset the analog sticks default direction to one extreme and move it in the other your controlled character takes off like a rocket in the field and can cross a city area in like half a second. Reason that worked was because for some reason they never defined a maximum speed for movement in the field in the programming, instead relying on the theoretical maximum tilt of the analog stick as a way to cap it. Probably one of my favorite JRPG exploits. |

Hmmm.... Chaos mode seems WWWAAAAYYYYY easier than Evil mode. Damage multiplier when hitting weaknesses negates the increased damage the enemy gets when you can kill them outright with a combo.
Sure, there have been instances of me being wiped out, but that's more with me not paying attention more than anything (like having my party bunched up when 4 enemies cast their AoE spells, or me not noticing the enemy inflicts burn and wondering why everyone is low hp despite getting healing spells left and right ). Boss battles of course becomes epic. I kinda have to 'cheat' to get the 1 min trophy by lowering the difficulty to Hard, but I always reload to fight the battle again in Chaos. So deliciously fun trying to figure out what strategies work in this level. But yeah, can't get enough of the battle system. I spend more time battling people to temper my weapons, get more SP, but mainly to collect Soul Gems, rather than advancing the plot. Goddamit Pokemon, why you teach me the motto of 'Gotta catch'em all!' XD

So the way to get food like apple pie is by getting the recipe or do I also need to dualize it before putting it into the mixer? Before, I wanted to do a sidequest that requires me to submit one apple pie, but I still couldn't find it.

Unrelated: I'm just about to finish the main quest. Do I miss any sidequests by finishing the main quest and moving on to the future arc?
