Hello, I was just looking around and I've noticed that a lot of the guides are extremely old most being from 2005-2007 and it seems that none of them are working/alive anymore.

Could someone be so kind as to link some working beginner guides on typesetting?

Assuming you're the one that wrote that, you may want to make a couple corrections.

\be is a 2D Binomial Blur, not a Box Blur.

Also, xy-VSFilter 3.0.0.53+ & Libass support floating-point for \fscx & \fscy, which may be worth making a note about.
