I've said this multiple times here, but this sums up my thoughts on this whole situation perfectly.
And now that the anime has come this far, I pray someone will release an FT video with that audio dubbed over it.

I spent much of this arc expecting Natsu to eat the sacred flame (or at least some of it) to power up and beat the final boss (whoever/whatever that turned out to be). Spoiler for Spoiler:

Even more buildup for this week's episode. My favorite part is probably Kyouka though from Tartaros. I suppose we will get introduction of the other members soon.
Ending with Natsu was priceless ha

Looks like "Kyouka, the Slave Star Angel" is actually "Kyoka, Goddess of the Slave Planet", just like Kodansha said. I'm guessing the anime will be using the rest of the official manga translations as well.

Everyone is free now.
Flare accepted back with open arms. Still.. new trouble is just around the corner. The demons of Tartarus have officially arrived. Warrod prepared a nice thank you feast along with some surprises. Nice episode!

From the looks of things, Crunchyroll is basing its translations on the Fairy Tail Wiki, which seems to avoid using official names if they aren't sure they were provided by Mashima himself. When the manga was licensed by Del Rey, each volume had a note from Mashima saying all name spellings were provided by him. Now that this note no longer appears, the Wiki holds names up for vote, and if they don't like an official name, they use something else. Anyway, here's what I think we can expect from names to be revealed this arc: Spoiler for Character names:

So, I've discovered something really exciting: according to Hiro Mashima's Volume 49 afterword in the manga, there were several parts from the Tartaros arc that were cut for various reasons. Because of this, the anime adaptation will actually be a director's cut of sorts, showing these "deleted scenes" that were meant to be in the manga in some way. I imagine it'll be much like Erigor's planned appearance in the Nirvana arc, or Gajeel's adventures and Faust's true identity in the Edolas arc. I learned about it here: http://thefairystales.tumblr.com/pos...e-tartarus-arc

I believe "Torafusa" originated from a misreading of the kana; it was thought to be トラフサー (Torafusaa), when it was actually トラフザー (Torafuzaa). Not only that, but it's based on the word トラフザメ (torafuzame), which is Japanese for "zebra shark". Hence the Kodansha name "Torafuzar".
But to be honest, I really don't mind the fan spellings in this case... ...except for that. The name honestly infuriates me not only because of how hilariously unfitting and ordinary it is, but mostly the Fairy Tail Wiki's justification for it. You see, there was a character from "Phoenix Priestess" named Geese (ギース Giisu) whose name was mentioned in the manga. However, the translator for Kodansha misread the Japanese name as キース (Kiisu), and thus his name became "Keith". This infuriated at least one of the admins at the FT Wiki, who decided to retaliate by giving the name "Keith" to a character whose Japanese name just so happened to be キース; in this case, one of the villains of the Tartaros arc. And you know what happened when I proposed the Wiki change the name to "Keyes"? The majority said it sucked, even the ones who admitted that "Keith" also sucked, while others say it doesn't really match up with the Japanese pronunciation ("Keyes" reads like "keys", while the Japanese version is more like "keese"). But hey, not all English names match with their Japanese readings. I mean, "Hades" is always pronounced "HAY-deez" in English, not "HAH-dess". And it turns out that "Lamia" is actually supposed to be "LAY-mee-uh", not "LAH-mee-uh" (I looked it up in a dictionary). So there you have it. But I suppose you can't expect all translations to be consistently great. There's one or two FT Wiki names I prefer over the official ones. But if one of the anime name cards actually reads "Keith", I suppose I'll just...give up the fight.
