horror & mystery anime and manga (especially akin to Higurashi)

Well, the title pretty much says it all. Looking for anime with horror tones and a feel of mystery and secrets. Some sort of supernatural element is a plus, same goes for girls among main characters.
Monster - already watched, and it's not exactly that. Death Note - watched & liked. Umineko - currently watching.
I'd love something that has a flavor of scary fairytale. (A good example of this kind of atmosphere is a music video Vocaloid ~ Alice Human Sacrifice.)
Manga and VN suggestions are also welcome. Thanks in advance.
