BTW, I've felt for awhile (and I'm sure I'm not the only one, Ep 4 certainly implied it heavily) that the ultimate goal of the chess game is to free Beatrice from being the culprit. In a way, defeating her is rescuing her, isn't it? If we anti-fantasy people agree that even though Beatrice isn't a witch, she exists in some form somehow (skirt!Beato), that means that in essence, she is either being framed or framing herself for some reason. It also means that once Battler denies her existence as a witch, it doesn't mean she really dies, because she's something other/more than a witch.

After checking the spoilers from this game, I do not think he'd do something for that kind of reason. All the same, I cannot deny that possibility.
But why would they play a game in which they know they are nothing but tools? The whole idea behind this game was to amuse those two (Bern and Lamda). Continuing it would only further that. Who knows? There's also the miracle Bern and Lambda were talking about, which they don't believe will happen.

DEEN had better be saving their budget for Ep3... it needs it what with all the magic-world-ness. |
