There's an interesting article here: http://ranobecafe.wordpress.com/2009...-do-they-work/
It talks about how some Light Novels get TV commercials in Japan (it shows some as well in the article), and asks if maybe publishers like Yen Press should consider making one for novels like "Haruhi Suzumiya". What do you think? Should Haruhi's novels get a book trailer to air on TV to create more awareness? Would it even help? lol |

I sort of recall TV ads for things like "Goosebumps", but that was general during or around the airing of the show based on that series. The only way you are going to find a Haruhi ad would be if some station was airing Haruhi.

They do radio ads for novels sometimes. I remember one in particular that had to have done more to hinder sales than help them. Had some guy reading some actiony scene where a plane goes down because a pilot gets sick, and the dialog was worse than a hundred Twilights... *shudders*
Haruhi's a bit of a niche property, though... Don't really see normal advertising tricks working for it...

There's a video review for the Haruhi light novel out: http://ranobecafe.wordpress.com/2009...ruhi-suzumiya/
I thought the way the video was filmed was pretty good. (by the way, I looked on Barnes and Noble a day or so ago, the hardcover of Haruhi is selling more now, and twelve kingdoms is dropping slowly. So perhaps when the next monthly ranks for english light novels is out, Haruhi will be #1. lol) |

After finally going to my local B&N, which actually in the next town over, I find the first volume for the novel and the first 2 for the manga. Also, I noticed that B&N got rid of the graphic novel section. And instead of getting the novel or the manga, I get Freakonomics.

Ok, now that it's officially translated as Sigh instead of Sighs, will we use the former or will we ignore it like the people that ignore the fact that S2 isn't S2?
*looks at 'need to buy' bookslist* Hmm, I need to go bookshopping
