Over 100 people! That is a lot of water to reclaim.

Edit:

Looking sharp Yamamoto

(Interesting that Kodai does have a spacesuit for flying around in rather than just strapping on a helmet.

I am noting that Voyager Entertainment Inc. is getting mentioned as being involved along with Yamato Crew Co. Ltd. I imagine as news sources and distribution. Aside from that I have no idea.

Voyager was established by Nishizaki over twenty years ago (the outfit in New Jersey that distributes STAR BLAZERS was Nishizaki's US branch). In the wake of his death, his stepson has revived the name, which has been in the credits of YAMATO: 2199 since Episode 1.

Then that brings up the question, is the US branch involved at all? When the name comes up the Americans and some others think the Star Blazers distributors are involved somehow, and thus think a North American distribution is more likely sooner than later.

If they are not involved at all, their name could be hurting sales as people sit and wait for the cheaper North American BD or DVDs to come eventually. Not by a lot since some I doubt would purchase the Japanese BD due to the price even without a NA release.

Others are waiting for a boxset they hope will be cheaper, or just to cut down on shipping costs.

No. They only have the rights to distribute the three STAR BLAZERS series and the original five feature films.

One thing I'd like to see is a strategic map of the Gamilas Empire (with prehaps their enemies on it was well). We never got a real scope of how big their empire was in the original series. We know they likely held most if not all of both Magellenic Clouds and at least all star systems leading in the direction of the Milky Way, but seemed to have few holding their aside from in the Sol System and maybe some bases between it and the edge of the galaxy heading in the direction of Gamilas.

In the third series we got to see (repeatedly) a strategic map of the Milky Way with the Galman Empire and the Bolar Federation's galactic holdings (as well as Earth's tiny area of potental influence). I hope to get a better understanding of Gamilas holding in this series (as it may be interesting for later).

I noticed that those *thigh highs* Rei is wearing is also part of Kodai's uniform.

Think they're some kind of pressure equipment to prevent blood build up in the legs when undergoing acceleration in a dog fight?

They all have it. We can see them on Kato when he boards his fighter. I thought the standard uniform could be fitted with some sort of tight sleeves (notice how the top of a pilot uniform seems to pin on those buttons around the collar). But its not just the sleeves, its the whole uniform. Would be nice to know what all those harnesses and those "tights" are for though your assessment may be correct. The fighters may have some sort of innetial damper to cope with the extreme velocities but extra protection and containment is always a good thing.

While were on the pilot subject... RIP Sugiyama. You had one good line and got shot. Wonder if that will become a stapple! Any pilot besides the main 3 that opens his mouth dies... XDDD

Most likely it's some kind of high tech G-suit.

They also have to survive in potental vaccum and harzardous enviroments if they eject or the cockpot is breached.

I do hope the suit has a self sealing system. Kodai's shoulder a such needs to be kept from bleeding out in a vaccum.

... Did someone make a design for the sub-bridge to make it a completely separate battleship? What?

A third bridge with a third bridge (That equate to a "Yo dawg, I heard you like third bridges"?). Ship is doomed.

Speaking of doomed:

(source: http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.p...st_id=29629870)

Looks like a movie poster for a film about "The Brave Yukikaze".
Though every time I see that scene and remember some other parts of Yamato history, it makes me wonder if we will see them again or not.

I'm good for putting up one or two images at a time. I'm sure someone else with a pixiv account would be better suited to do an image dump.

There are sometimes long image sets (like this one: http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.p...st_id=29487909) that are interesting. There is a lot of suggestive images of the women around. Some of the guys. Some mechanical dawings. There are lots and lots of Yamato 2199 images as well as some based on the older series.

Never mind, actual news time: The Chapter 3 PV came out

YouTube
Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?

I see a whole much of interesting things that I am not familiar with. And things I recognize from pictures and books that were not in the anime before (like the camo-paint job on the Gamilas cruisers).

But there is something about that Gamilas ship caught with Yamato in the dimentional sea....it reminds me of the original Arcadia.

Why do they have a radio on the ship? Wouldn't all in ship communication be by wire? :P
