And if that happens, just remember that line about power and corruption. "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." |

Not 'potentially' she would be the most powerful mage in existence. That's why the Church is being pretty nervous right now.
And yes, power corrupts, but Main Characters have a tendency to be immune for that sort of corruption. |

Just watch this episode :
Finally we saw some Index's power (even though its not the magics ) instead of Touma who just with his right hand pawn all magicians . One more girl for his harem . 1 episode left and it'll be not surprising for a second season . Well for me this anime is average , the enemies are very easy , not very entertaining as SnS , hmmm the story is weird ... The good : The graphic design , some characters , some humors and some actions . |

I like it too, for some reason. I like magic, and magic oriented anime that aren't horrible are rare. So I take what I can get, haha.
I like the characters, especially Biri Biri and Index. Touma is ok too considering how lame he could be as a male lead to a harem. Artwork is good, especially some of the character designs. The music is awesome, some of the best techno I've heard this year so far. JC Staff seems like they have decent taste in music, at least. The pacing and storyline are strained to say the least. A lot of amorphous concepts like the magicians and espers and churchs and shadowy organizations. A good way to create a deep and involving setting is to go step by step, with a arc clearly detailing a great deal about one faction then moving to another. |

Index is the title character and by default is the female lead, with her playing (like it or not) more of a role than any character save for Touma. She doesn't play the same kind of role as a Mikoto, but she's still part of the central cast.
Touma is the main character. Index is the female lead, despite her being in the background more often than not. She's the catalyst for Touma's life getting mixed up with all these magicians, after all. Everyone else is secondary and changes their level of importance from arc to arc, with Mikoto being the most prominent of these (and even she only plays a prominent role in one arc to date, plus the one shot and [sorta] this last arc). |
