I liked the chapter's ending, because it actually linked with a not-so-old post of mine about whether Hayate's "butler duty" will remain to be portrayed as good, or if it will be questioned and eventually shown to be bad for Hayate.
Whilst I'm sure Nagi wants her feelings to be reciprocated, I'm sure she wouldn't want to force Hayate to sacrifice his own desires and happiness for her. I'm expecting good developments, and I hope we don't need to go through 2 volumes-worth of SoL for them to take place.

On another note, I feel that Ruka is making light of Hayate's devotion to his duty anyway interesting development finally.

I know what Hayate will say to Ruka.... but what Ruka's saying is something unexpected... maybe she will consider same way like A-tan think? like buying Hayate from Nagi? (although she still have debts to pay)
honestly, I laughed a lot when Hayate said "this is the first time I kiss other girl than A-tan" *A-tan glaring from behind* "and I can't honestly say that this is probably my 542nd time" just awesome... |

Nice chapter but they drag it for another climax next chapter. Its predictable that Ruka would help Hayate pay his debt but how will he pay? and its intriguing that the inheritance was put into plot again. I wonder if Ruka has one of those stones that lets you access the hidden palace.

Notice that one of the developments in this manga has been Nagi getting in contact with the more common things in (Japanese) life, as opposed to the secluded bubble she used to know. She isn't being chased as she used to be. She has lots of friends and even a dream she's after (though in a very half-hearted way). She's still rich, not as much as before, but she can now enjoy far more things and doesn't need to be a shut-in. Given those developments, it is no longer necessary for Hayate to be 24/7 around her, as she has far more people now that cares and will look out for her, in addition to Nagi learning her own way in the world (though very slowly). So, Hayate should be able to pursue his own goals outside of his responsibilities as a butler. I don't know how this will develop. For all we know, it reinforces even further Hayate's stance as Nagi's butler, but I'd really like Hata to write Hayate realising he wants more than just being a butler.

Also keep in mind that, supposedly, the new anime is "canon" to the manga, and takes place in September and nothing has changed. Honestly I believe they'll go back on that "canon to the manga" stance, but until then, don't expect much.

I don't recall exactly when, but they keep changing their stance on everything with that anime. First it's "all new story", yet if I've heard correctly two or three of the five episodes thus far have been based off of old manga chapters.

From the beginning they've said it was an Anime Original story, but is set after the current the manga arc and is considered canon.
And before anyone brings up the past skits, I'm pretty sure they were only referring to the main plot of the mystery behind Nagi's father... Whenever we get there that is >.>
