I second that and i usually like a decent bad guy (in this series who really is the bad guy?) but i just cant stand Scythe. its been a while since i wished for a character to have a death as painful as possible.

No time for more, but HELL, did they pack alot into ep17. To put it bluntly, the sh*t didn't merely hit the fan, it broke through the roof.

Just watched 16, my affection for Cal went up an immeasurable amount of points, officially surpassing Ein as my new favorite heroine of the series. She just is to freaking heartwarming, enough to crack Reijis heart now. She is like the heroine in Blade of the Immortal, or Tomoe in Samurai X. That is, shes the girl who eventually cracks the ice of the main character.

So we dive back into the bitter darkness. Is Cal really gone? I doubt it, although it would be esthetically better if she was. Too many resurrections are a problem. But maybe she rigged the thing herself...?

The new person we see, Mio, is played by Koshimizu Ami. I am still picking myself up off the floor from her outstanding performance in yesterday's episode of Spice & Wolf. This one was good, too, even if it was only ten words. Takagaki Ayahi, Sawashiro Miyuki, Koshimizu Ami, Hisakawa Aya. Very, very strong female cast. Watanabe Akeno (Lizzie) is good, too.

not only it seems that the production value went back up with episode 17 - the bitterness, dark mood and some plot twist really hit the shit this time

I really love the way Reiji calling Elen like pleading to him. Notice that if Elen really becoming Ein again she would not tell Reiji to run away from Inferno. Somehow you might started to reliaze that she's doing all this in a sense to protect Reiji.

Well SM is a bastard but he's still a wonderful villain I give him kudos for that. See Godoh Daisuke not really a bad person.Love that piece that they played during Mio and Godoh scene. In fact that's my favourite scene during the entire episode.
And would've guess Siga would shoot him..... but I don't hate this siga guy somehow

I already know what's going to happen next but I still can't hold my excitement for next episode

I would imagine the lack of confirmation on Cal's death would mean she is alive, she has left Reiji's house unsupervised before so...Still, if I was Reiji I'd be in a murderous rage next episode, popping anyone with a connection to Inferno within my sight.

I agree, and keep saying I dont believe that Cal should have anything bad happen to her. She is innocent.

And if this series had been 12 eps long(and I thought it would be about that long till Elen took a bullet for Scythe), the happy Elen and Reiji on the run ending wouldve been a great way to end it.

Now I don't know what to believe...surely what Godoh said about Claudia being the mastermind behind the killings and conflicts were the work of SM but again I don't think that what he said were all lies. But which side is more truthful than the others? My bets are still on Claudia because SM is just such a scheming bastard...he would do anything to cause trouble. But then this makes Claudia the tragic victim? If anything I hope she isn't going to be killed off just yet...best case would be never at all but I can see a tragic death for her somewhere down the line.

And I can't believe that the loyal Shiga killed Godoh...for what? Damn SM is using his brainwashing again. But knowing the fate that rests on the Godoh group together with the flashback, it seems like Shiga made the decision of protecting the "group" and Godoh's family over his boss. Since if he could see no other way to survive this was the logical...but extremely painful decision.

Thinking about it...the flashback with Mio reminds me of a scenario from Black Lagoon...

Now Reiji is one the run once again and his apartment blew up...please tell me Cal went out to buy food...

By planting the seed of distrust between Inferno around McGuire, Claudia/Reiji and the Godoh Group, he prepared the stage. And now he's fingering back Claudia at McGuire, that it was her who organized the attack on the cocaine a year ago.

Claudia a tragic victim? Heaven help my heart ^_^; ... there's one more detail which will come out next episode which will make clear how Claudia is really ticking.

It's hardly a tragedy when one controlling, backstabbing bastard one-ups the other. Claudia's methods differ from Scythe, and there's a bit more humanity in her. But at the end of the day, she and Scythe are cut from the same cloth, and they ultimately affect those around them in the same ways. This time, the positions are just the reverse of what happened in the last arc.

Granted she was the mastermind behind the cocaine jacking, her aim there was to get rid of SM who was a ridiculously big thorn on her side but it wasn't directed towards inferno specifically.

But I guess SM's smooth words of persuasion cause Daisuke to think that he has been played by Claudia since SM pinned the killings of his folks onto her, which she used as a excuse to kill off her rival. While it wasn't Claudia's original plan, she did use it as an advantage.

Things are clearing up in my mind now, thanks

But yea, I have a soft spot for Claudia...

As for the last part, that much I can guess. But poor Shiga had to trample on his own pride to pull the trigger on his boss which was kinda unbelievable and shocking.

Well what goes around comes around I guess. But at least Claudia has a good reason for this as it is her act of revenge for her hubby dying. SM is just a bastard who is evil. Claudia on the other hand is a tragic case whose motivation is driven by feelings of revenge.

...what if Cal has been some kind of plant all along? From the sequence of images, she could have made a timer and set that bag outside her own door and disappeared. Not likely, but my slight uneasiness with the way Miyukicchi has been doing her voice leads me to raise the possibility.
