Here is the explanation from the chapter:

There are lots of theories about what a Valkyrie is and how to become one. One of the theories say that a Valkyrie is not a God, angel, fairy or some other divine existence. She's just a normal human girl who wishes to fight more than anything. Once Odin grants her this wish and gives her power, she becomes a Valkyrie.

Similar to Saints and angels, Valkyries act as a bridge between man and God, and so there are many kinds of magic related to Valkyries. This includes ways of sending warriors' souls to Valhalla, ways of recreating weapons that Valkyries used and even ways of "creating" a Valkyrie without the help of Gods.

Of course, there are limitations with "artificial" Valkyries. But occasionally, there are people born with the qualities of a Valkyrie and are much stronger than the artificial ones, just like Brunhild.
So in a way, a Valkyrie is like the Norse counterpart of a Saint. It just so happens that Brunhild is born with both the qualities of a Valkyrie and the qualities of a Saint.

And I don't think it was ever mentioned that the SS2 Valkyrie is Brunhild's apprentice. I don't think they have any relationship at all. Also, she's not wearing leopard skin. It's just a cow pattern.

Ahh many thanks, that clears it up abit... So does it ever mention whether in terms of firepower, are Saints and Valkyries standing on equal ground? Or like everything else, Pagan religions are outdated while Abrahamic ones are the current top dog?

Lol, the whole "artificial" Valkyrie thing reminds me of Valkyria Chronicles 2...

P.S - What about Elves? Any more details aside from that they speed up evolution?

There's something that's been bugging me recently.

When Touma's been helping, has anyone died in the story.

I can't think of any one who has actually died while Toum was involved in their story.

Vol 1: Touma gets involved and no one dies but him
Vol 2: Touma gets involved and people do die, but get reserected - End result, no fatalities.
Vol 3: Touma finds out about the Sisters after he finds one of them dead. Immediately steps in and no one else dies.
Vol 4: ???
Vol 5: No deaths
Vol 6: As far as I know, no one died from Sherry's assault
Vol 7: No nuns were killed
Vol 8: None of the students got killed by Misaka
Vol 9: First half, no one killed
Vol 10: Same, though both vols did have some potentially fatal injuries
Vol 11: Again, no deaths
Vol 12: Hound Dogs die, but not Touma's story
Vol 13: Same. None of the enemies Touma face die (in large part thanks to Hyoka)
Vol 14: Terra dies, though I don't know Touma's role in this.
Vol 15: Accel story
Vol 16: ???
Vol 17: ???
Vol 18: ???
Vol 19: Accel story
Vol 20: ???
Vol 21: ???
Vol 22: Fiamma saved. Rest that Touma's involoved in ???

Yeah, I know people die in Raildex, but when Touma is involved directly, has anyone kicked the bucket?

Nobody dies in Touma's world- he doesn't allow it as far as I can tell. I think his right hand might be able to erase death itself...

If Touma was alive in 1865, Abraham Lincoln's assassination would've been prevented.

I suppose the Author is going for the dramatic effect of Touma being the 'perfect' hero that can save everyone when being placed into any situation.

Well, if you REALLY want to take it to the next level... The Son of God used the power of the [Right Hand] to save right? And Imagine Breaker is represented by the Right hand... Perhaps it's symbolism.

I used to think that but IB destroys miracles and the SoG brought them. At least thats what i think. We have to take into consideration that maybe the "truth" in the index universe is different from christian beliefs.

Truth in Index verse is definitely different then Christian beliefs- Christian beliefs in this book is quickly becoming an outdated concept, and trying to apply them to Aleister and Touma are futile.

By the way- I think I have a brand new crack theory

Aogami Pierce and Index are related. Because both have blue hair.

That is all.

exactly, for example the "angel" known as gabriel. Its not human at all. Although im guessin the christian cross is actually important since the angel is wearing it on her. Btw gabriel looks like index

Not exactly accurate because in Abrahamic faith angels are more like some outer realm beings as well.

The details are in Gesta Danorum.
Ollerus and Wōđinaz's relationship in the novel is based on the Danish myth.

But that would imply Aurrelus is from Asgard or at the very least, not human......or is it that in Index verse, pagan gods are simply ascended magi?

If humans are inmatures gods that can reach the godhood through the proper method why not reach the pagan godhood?

Or it could be just a name they use representing their affinity rather than meaning they are the actual gods. As in, Ollerus shall play the role of Ulr and Wōđinaz plays the role of Odin.

Perhaps....yet the term Majin implies divinity somewhere....

Slow. Someone already theorized that Aleister, Index and Aogami are one family.
