This Song Is Godly. I can imagine flashing trough a empty desert untill the beat and song comes, then it starts flashing characters alone at their houses or rooms or whatever. While the main character stands outside in the cold night looking up at the moon. . . Can you feel it?

Utada Hikaru - Passion As Opening.
Utada Hikaru - Colors As Ending.

Passion is already the opening for something, so it'd be hard to imagine it as the theme song for something else.

Mami Kawada's songs TRILL & intron tone would be good OPs for an anime.

Die En Grey -- Cage I think this song would make an awesome opening.
Aya Hirano -- Neophilia -- Another good opening song
the GazettE -- Regret-- could be a good endinng

Idk about op/ends but Linkin Park - In Pieces would be a great insert song after a breakup or something to that effect. Even the guitar solo makes you kind of sad.

Two examples that I thought was already mentioned, but wasn't.

1: Yuki no Hana - look it up somewhere. This is an excellent song that deserves more exposure.

2: J.S. Bach's Komm Susser Tod - No, this is not the one used in Evangellion. This is the real thing that used to be popular in Classical circles in USA during 1950 - 60s. Sadly, the best performance I know of this was Opening of the SSI game Fantasy General which came out in year 1994 or 1995.

I think that was always the case, no? Anime songs now sound differently from those of the past, but comparing between anime songs and mainstream music made in the same period, I find that there is not much difference then and now.

I love anime songs from the 90s. I think Nagisa by Ino Head Park sounds a bit like them, so that would make a great OP theme to me.
