Love the dad! Great that he's a man of high standards and would do the hard stuff for what he believes is right for his daughter, yet is someone open to reason w/out compromising his moral values! Just sucks that Kyousuke doesn't seem to have earned/kept his dad's high esteem. That punch was awesome! Go dad! This is a great show! Kyousuke's an awesome brother!

Awesome episode. Kirino's conversations with Kuroneko are really cute, Kyousuke's confrontation with their dad was touching (until he turned silly when it went to the eroges ). Minami and pillowlap was a nice scene too.

3) He decided to heed both his kids' request, and his "I don't care anymore" kind of turn-a-blind-eye-on-it approach was the easiest way to do it (and relatively asian in style)

4) The punch against Kyousuke was to establish that he was still the boss in this house, and to punish Kyousuke for his flabbergastingly unacceptable behavior.
Well said. I totally agree. When Kyousuke voiced his observations about Saori et al's otaku behaviour, it would have become obvious to the dad that he wasn't an otaku himself. Judging by the scrapbook of Kirino that the dad keeps, he's a bit of a softy inside, so it's not that unbelievable that he let them get away with it, yet still keeping his tough dad image.

If the dad really believed that Kyousuke lusts after little sisters and possibly his own, I don't think he would have gotten away that easily

Kirino wasn't lying, Kyousuke was. And dad is pretty sharp - the way he skewered Kyousuke's weak line of defense was nicely done. This is the explanation which makes most sense to me *shrug* - he knows what's up and decides to leave Kirino be for now.

Excuse me about this one but if you are addicted with masturbation and eroge and cannot achieve orgasm anymore then eroge becomes like a drug to you in this case and there are other examples like this.
How about you stick to the show? Kirino never even showed as much as simple arousal. She's an overachiever who is already working part of society. I think you have a totally warped idea of the significance of eroges.

Quote:
Eroge is a criminal offense basically because it features fictional under age people but also taboo things. Kyousuke having a porn stash is more of the norm for guys in Japan.
There is absolutely no difference between an eroge and a hardcore porn magazine, seen from a legal standpoint. And it's no "criminal offense", the only one who might get into trouble at all would be an Akihabara sales clerk.

It really amazes me how many people start hyperventilating about porn or porn games. Seriously, folks, you need to relax quite a bit.

The second one, but it took a bit of deduction. In the beginning of the second one, it was implied that blackhaired beauty was a model like Kirino, too - and later, on the dinner table, the mother asked if Kirino had been shopping with Ayase, and that the two of them together would always attract attention.

Anyway, Ayase will play a significant role in the future, and I hope that giving away her name won't hurt your enjoyment

Quote:
Well, I felt Kyousuke's argument was wrong and fully sided with his dad's argument. And considering he hasn't impressed me at all through the episodes so far, I didn't really care about him that much in the first place.
Fair enough.

Maybe I can sympathize with Kyousuke, because I also have a little sister with exactly the same age difference. In Kirino's age, she also was difficult to tolerate, and our relationship hasn't been the best back then. Still, I understand and respect his protective side. She's your little sister, and you're the big brother who has to look after her. I can relate to that.

Quote:
Maybe not the same thing, but I was just using it to point out that Kyousuke's statement was flawed. That is should be allowed because she is passionate about it and makes friends from it.
Point taken. That alone doesn't justify every means. However, Kyousuke listed it to counter dad's argument that it would hurt her social standing - and this example shows that there's more than this one side to the issue.

Quote:
And yeah, she is all of that, so I believe there is nothing wrong with having anime and stuff. But having R-18 stuff? Even if it is not a crime, not allowed/tolerated, for me. Like you said, "openly sanctioning watching porn merely for the stimulation of the sex drive is wrong."
However, this is not at all how Kirino looks at it. Remember her "eewwww, gross!" reaction?

Especially in the days of the internet, I'm convinced that this shrill "PROTECT OUR KIDS!!!" approach is fundamentally wrong. Responsible parents should make sure that at least by the age of 14, the issues around sex should be talked about openly. Artificially placing bans on porn rather causes extra interest which is completely counterproductive. What's the point in making such a ruckus about it when it takes a kid 10 seconds to get everything and more from the net?

I'm not saying to openly okay porn/eroges or even provide them, but to show and explain them seems to be the much more healthy approach. I had this talk with my parents at Kirino's age, and they knew (and didn't mention) that I had a stash of my own. Guess what. I'm still not in jail.

(I'd rather try to put stronger restrictions on explicit cruelty and violence. It never ceases to amaze me that the same people who scream at a naked flashed boob nipple have no problem displaying splattered brain mass to their little ones)

Man Kirino has an awesome family

A cop dad who's strict with high values, but loves his kids and knows when to concede.
A mom who's cool and easy to talk to like one of your friends, and very perceptive.
A brother who would do that much for his little sister.

Couldn't help but smile.

Aaaw, this is a very touching episode. Kyosuke is showing his "let big brother handle it" attitude towards his sister. I gotta hand it to the dad for his values because he only want what's best for both of them so I can't blame him from getting mad and all. The mom finally recognized Kyousuke and I bet the dad as well. He probably thought he was covering up for his sister and just punch him out maybe out of love and respect for standing out for his little sister. Of course the dad can't verbalize that because of pride so a painful fist decided it all (maybe). What I really love about this episode is at the end when Kirino calls Kyousuke "aniki" which is I thought was really cute and touching which she also showing her tsundere side in the process.

I'll admit that I thought at the end of the episode that it was a better ending note than most series I've watched...

I liked the Kirino and Kuroneko interactions a lot and as others have said the eroge selection near the end to "save the little sisters" had me laughing.

This is what I don't get, events like what you've listed is exception than norm. one every 1 of those underage rapers there are 100s regular people. Just because they messed up, media is blaming on games and porn.

Sorry to say this, but how is UK get into this. they don't even have an established eroge industry and unless those kids claims that they were influenced by eroge it has nothing to be with wether eroge has bad influence or not.

I'll use a better analogy, how many kids under 18 that you know plays HALO or Call of Duty? Do you see them running around murdering people on street? The one that do are already messed up anyway.

It's parents' job to make sure kids can tell right from wrong, fake from real as soon as they are of schooling age. If you really got influence by fake pictures and games and actually go out and perform those crimes, there is no way anyone can convince me that they won't be influence by porn and movies and TV and everything will be OK.

Compare to our everyday medias, eroge is nothing. I still remember when I was 8 years old and the TV is showing tanks running over protesters in Tiananmen Square. Don't tell me that has less impact than eroge.

Now obviously, you don't want them to get too immerse in them, but I still rather have my kids play eroge than going out and rape people because they got nothing else to release their stress and fantasies.

BTW, eroge market is larger than you might have thought in Japan and its surrounding countries and might even be more of norm in those area than porn magazines.

On average there are about 25-40 titles out every month, that's not counting adult dojinshi and manga. They soon get distribute to surrounding countries [legally/pirated] like Taiwan, Korea, China, Singapore, etc. Think about it, that's as much if not more than your regular videogame releases in a month. And in a failing economy that even general videogame industry suffers lost the eroge industry has actually kept its continuing growth.

Anyway, I watched the episode again. I absolutely love how Kyosuke picks the option "help little sister" instead "help Kirino"

episode 03

I think the best part of the episode was having some nice Kyo X Manami moments. loved Manami ever since the first episode, and having her spend time alone with Kyo made me very happy. I think I have repeated that scene of their date countless of times, when she invites him to sleep on her lap and he, being so dense, fails to take the opportunity. is he not aware of this flag after playing some eroge? =_= she waits for him before going to school; they talk at night on their phones, they spend time studying together; they go on dates to the park; and they share each other's thoughts, feelings and problems. I think she likes him, and while he may not be aware of it, he appears to like her a lot as well. I love Manami; I really like this couple; and I and can't wait to see them get together at some point. :P but is Kyo really waiting for someone to snatch Manami away from him in order to realize his feelings? <--my scenario.

I would love to see more Kyo X Manami moments in each episode, but I can't get my hopes up.

I really want to talk about the black hair girl whose name/character hasn't been quite introduced in the anime, but I don't want run too much into spoilers. it's probably the first time that I really like Hayamin's voice and one of the characters she voices (who probably is my second favorite)---there's an entire episode of the drama CD dedicated just to her, which happens to be the most enjoyable one.

you are not the only one. The main reason I'm watching this show is because of Manami. I really like her character ever since I read the novel. her interactions with Kyo are one of the most enjoyable and heart warming. I think they cut some of it in the anime, which makes me kinda sad.

Kyou is the best fucking brother ever. What kind of brother would admit that he goes into his little sisters room to play a porn game while shes in there . The dad was pissed as hell , really happy that the author had him hit Kyou, that was suprising .
10/10
Kyou x Manami would be awesome.
I loved the part where she opens up to him and hes like ".....what?"

You're not terrible, but I just don't get it; I'm not sure what I'm missing.

While the relationship between Kyosuke and Manami is slowly starting to grow on me with each passing week, I think the reason why I can never fully invest myself in this subplot is because I'm just not all that attracted to Manami as a character. It's not like I have a problem with her being the normal and everyday character of this show, but there's just nothing about her that helps her relationship stand out from the much more interesting dynamic between Kyosuke and Manami in my opinion. Don't read it the wrong way by thinking that I prefer wincest either; I'm merely saying that I'd rather see the sibling relationship between Kysouke and Manami develop rather than the romantic relationship between Kyousuke and Manami, as that's the main reason why I'm so attracted to this show anyways.

Who can really say how it will all turn out though? Manami has had a very limited amount of screentime, and she could easily win me over if given a chance. I'm not seeing much right now, but her little lecture to Kyousuke in the second episode was a slight glimpse of a character that can really hook me.

The problem is that, they keep cutting Manami part b/c I guess, well, she's too futsu...(Not that Manami is my favorite, Kuroneko is, but you need to read much further into the novel to understand that...)

But then, the "Ch. 2 of each volume of light novel is dedicated to Kyousuke x Manami" didn't start until 2nd volume...
