Has anyone here ever wondered why he wears those bandages in the first place?

I don't want to make you have the wrong idea, but... the bandages are wrapped around parts of the body the Second Christ was either missing or had engraved with scars. Saten wears bandages around both arms, neck and fronthead. Up until now I thought that was just some flamboyant attire but... not anymore. Those bandages aren't just for show.

Furthermore, it's said: "If you believe in God you believe in the Devil too."

Saten is the devil. In chapter 46, it was stated that the Second Christ was killed by the 666 committe. And it turns Saten is very familiarized with those guys.

Also, since they were the ones who killed the Second, I assume the body parts that were missing were taken by them.

It's possible Saten is a experimental secret project created by the committe with the remaining parts of the Second Christ. It would explain why his body build is exactly the same as Blade & Arclight and also why he calls the later "big brother".

It's anybody's guess at this point, there's still a lot that's been unexplained, and the list seems to be growing. It's possible we might have another arc to go through.

They really ought to make those unforms more durable. I mean, they're worn in hostile environments on a regular basis, yet they don't survive even moderate combat damage. Let alone heat, cold, air, water... the list goes on. The clothing bills must be astronomical.

Anyway, I don't think Cruz will have a chance to change his clothes any time soon. Far too many important things to do, no time to waste. And I'm sure Disk will come up with a good excuse for the cross-dressing to continue.

That idea was vaguely plausible at one time, but I think it's unlikely now, given that Mengroze couldn't remember who his mystery patient was. Sure, Cruz may not have been very memorable if he had just been a regular patient, but would Mengroze forget the person in whose brain he had implanted a top secret chip containing information vital to the Resistance? (And by the way, chaps, it's really stretching things to suggest a connection between that mark and Cruz's eyes just because they're both more or less circular...)

So what is Cruz's power? Well, the way his eyes went all weird is pretty unique, but putting that to one side for the moment, I'd say it's not inconsistent with it being the same as Arca's. Extreme heat could be used to break his shackles and knock Arclight backwards (by rapid expansion of the air, if you want a physical mechanism). Those could be flames surrounding him when he gets up (they're tearing up the floor, so it's not just your standard "power aura"), and on the next page, where we get the close-up of his eyes going funny, that stuff going "kin kin" looks a lot like bits of debris burning up. And of course, having that fragment would render him immune to damage from it.

Actually, I'm surprised no one else seems to have suggested this. Maybe it's too obvious...?

Those bandages are a bit mysterious, but we know what's under one of them, and it isn't a scar. And your theory doesn't explain the one around Saten's neck, since the Second's head, neck and upper body were all part of the remains absorbed by Arclight.

And so what if Saten calls Arclight "big brother"? It doesn't necessarily mean they're related. Maybe he has a crush on him.

Have we discussed about Arca's death yet? From how it happened you can tell Imai intended it be shocking, not sad, and he managed. Arca's death caught me completely by surprise because of how sudden it was, and it reminded me that these kind of things happen in real life. You know, those seconds where suddenly everything around you turns hell when just a few moments ago you were all joyful. It can be applied to the developments that took place in this chapter.

I didn't feel any sadness because as I've said, the author didn't intend it to be that way. Yet the shock was quite big. The only parent the main character had died before his eyes in a horrible way: burnt to a crisp.

Aruka's death was shocking. I almost didn't believe it until I read through it a few dozen more times. First AA beheads her, then reconnects her head to her body with doppelganger, proceeds to use Ishiyama's power to gather information and then pierce Cruz, and that's all in the previous chapter.

This chap she bites a chunk into AA's neck, burnt to a crisp by her own power and leaves Cruz a message before she dies.

Honestly, I always loved Aruka's character, not only is she clouded in mystery, but her outfit becomes better the more she appears (really love her first outfit). Y'know, but I have a feeling Aruka is gonna return via clone like Kafka, Uten, and fake Teruyama. When she eventually returns I expect her to have a nice long conversation with Cruz where some things about her are revealed.

Can't be everything because some things need to remain a secret.

I didn't think I would like Cruz exerting physical power, but it was actually quite satisfying seeming him power up a bit in this chapter. I guess I like desperation mode power ups a bit too much . Well, I'll be happy just as long as he doesn't become the centerpiece of fighting in the future. This series already has Blade and a number of other characters for that.

Anyway, Arclight mentions on page two that he's not going to cause any damage to Cruz's brain, which is feasible given his abilities. So at worst Cruz just has a hole in his head now, and we've seen people up and at 'em in this series with far worse injuries than that. I don't think we can conclude that he just regenerated on his own power.

p.s. this chapter is kind of infuriating by revealing what we already knew was probably the case (that Cruz has a fragment) but not what we've been really wondering about: just what that fragment is. I wonder if next chapter will be a Blade/Eve/Disc powered infodump, or a return to Seto/Solva of the shoujo butai. This series is not exactly great at handling multiple plot threads, so who knows!.

Arca is coming back for sure at some point. Her corpse lies there, so Saten like with other needlesses can take a blood sample and remake her.

She has a lot of things to explain, from when she led the Resistance to their extermination, to why she tried not one but twice times kill her brother, among many other things.

Also, Yamada may look happy for reuniting with Blade, Eve and co. now, but have no doubt he's gonna mourn the death of her sister. I wonder how Blade and Eve are gonna feel, specially the later, because of what she did during the Prologue arc after Blade beat the crap out of Kafka. Will she take Arca's appearance again? Coz now Yamada's sister is dead for real.
