Finished Kapooka last week and made it home for the weekend to bring some gear back to my barracks.

So whilst with access to a computer here are some of my Kapooka snaps;

Bayo Assault Course, stabby stabby.

Portrait from after the Challenge was completed.

I can't help but think those clothes look really heavy.

Also, that's a nice-looking knife.

It does, when it is wet. Could add another 10-15kg depending on how much water it absorbed.

And damn you jager you Aussies have kneepads and elbowpads at boot camp.

I thought military stuff was supposed to be efficient and all that.

Heavy clothes will slow you down, tire you out.

I can't believe modern technology is so back-water.

It is meant to be like this. The wet clothes will keep you warm at night; because the weaving of clothes will always result in microscopic holes that "ventilate" your skin, making you cooler than you should feel in such thick clothing.

The water absorbed will blot out these holes and keep you warm, sometimes incredibly hot when you wear a Gortex over it.

We had to wear them during Bayo training because of OHS. That said our section didn't put them on before doing the bayo assault course during the challenge at the end of training.

a) to save time and b) we weren't a bunch of pussies like the other sections.

During my days we never got those. Oh boy the bashed knees and elbows during contact drills.....

And you guys are lucky to have a bayonet mount on your rifle! Our new rifles jam like strawberry preserves and we pray that they don't in an actual firefight.

I thought you weren't allowed to take pics of weaponry...

Although maybe that's just because cadets are tight assed :L

Tip for young players; never tell anyone you were in Cadets.

Ever.
