I do wonder about the fanservice. It was a bit heavy early on with the first chapter having Illya naked for most of it. They got better, but that start will e bumpy on anime only viewers...the lolicons will be all over it (and might get disappointed later) and those against such fanservice might miss some really good stuff because of the turn off value.

If it weren't for the fact that I haven't ever seen ufotable try to handle comedy, I would say they should be the ones to do this anime. Everything about the Fate/Zero anime is nothing short of amazing. Which studio did the Carnival Phantasm anime, anyways? I didn't watch that one.

I've never watched a Silver Link anime before, so I really can't comment on them. However as this is a spin-off series from Type Moon with magical girls I can see why they are interested in this. It's quite a safe project and if they played their cards right this anime can be quite a hit, especially with how Fate/Zero becomes a major success now.

Finally found this thread.
So, silver link, huh? They certainly know their way with fanservice, loli (C3) or not (tasogare) which already confirms one of my favorite moments in the whole series will be done perfectly, and being such specialists in everything colorful and vibrant it should look quite nice as well. My only doubt is concerning the action scenes, those could be new territory for the studio, one in particular, but I'm being optimistic for the moment. So, what's the next big question, seiyuus? (The ones that aren't obvious, I mean). |

Hmm, SILVER LINK as the animation studio, and with Oonuma as the director. Should be interesting to see the essentially SHAFT version of Fate.
I am very interested in seeing this. I just hope that the next announced Fate project is Ufotable doing Heaven's Feel. |

Well yes, but it becomes bigger and brings more new fans into the franchise due to Fate/Zero anime. I just meant that right now Silver Link can ride on the success of Fate/Zero and market the anime well.
But wasn't the new Sailor Moon anime is in 2013 too? Hopefully this won't get overshadowed by Sailor Moon. Looks like next year we have two mahou shoujo anime. |

Okay, I'm really against stupid amounts of fanservice, but as long as there's a decent plot, or some good action scenes, I'm all for this adaptation.
Adding the manga to my to-reads now.

I wonder if Oonuma is going to pseudo-SHAFT Prisma Illya. I've actually started watching Dusk Maiden of Amnesia because I heard it was pretty good, and it's very SHAFT-y. If Shinbo were Apple he would have sued Oonuma in 15 countries by now for copying his style so closely.

Anyway giving a bit more thought, what Oonuma has directed always looked great (PaniPoni, Negima 2nd TV, ef, Natsu no Arashi / BakaTest, C3, Tasogare Otome), whether it was during his SHAFT or SILVER LINK periods. Also the later two anime direction style would fit perfectly with Illya, having to balance humor with action and service (sorry, but the ecchi in Illya is just service to Type-Moon fans). |
