You know, re-watching this show subbed over the holidays (as far as Triad's gotten) has given me a totally newfound appreciation for their plot twists. I mean, really. There's what? I counted 9 large unexpected events, as opposed to most other series I've watched this year having a big goose egg.
Truly, Nanoha is a show for plot twists. Now, in regards to technical design Spoiler for ep13 ending stuff:

Well...
Spoiler:
Nanoha's absolutely wonderful in that way. The amount of speculation on what's to happen next when ep 9 first came out was estatic. Every blogger's and raw follower's got an assumption during the time. Not alot of anime during '05 did that. |

About the plot twists, though...Was anyone really wondering what was gonna happen in the end since the first appearance of the masked guy? And then when the Cloud Knights were revealed to be trying to help Hayate? It might turn out to be a formulaic "we fight each other pointlessly for most of the season, then join together to fight the 3rd enemy at the end" type of deal. But it's still up in the air.
Though the first season had a simpler plot, I thought it was pretty compelling, because you really didn't know if Fate was gonna give up on her mom or not. In spite of all that, the recent developments with the Christmas Eve meeting was really cool and unpredicted. Vita seems like she might be the a character with an inner conflict, as she seemed really affected by the christmas visit with Nanoha&co. Maybe she'll be the first to work together with them.
