Houkago no Pleiades (SUBARU x GAINAX)
Quote:
Staff list got updated with 3 more names. The 3 pictures in special tab on the website is freaking amazing. If the actual animation's anything like these pictures then this is going to be one hell of an eye candy. I really, really want the one with the red hair staring into the galaxy as wallpaper @___@. And of course one of the girls is named Subaru . Last edited by Kunagisa; 2010-11-01 at 14:01. |

Hōkago no Pleiades?
Can't resist thinking of Hōkago Tea Time... ;; Nevertheless, Gainax successfully trolled us again by suggesting slight essence of super transforming car mecha which did not even appear in the promo but cute girls.

Web animation doesn't mean schedule free. Two recent ones I can think of (Ontama and Penguin Musume) did have deadlines and released at fairly regular intervals. The intervals for the former were monthly, and the latter had a long break in between, but they did have deadlines to meet.

Nothing beats the two years between episodes for Gunbuster, though. |

This isn't quite an OVA, though. It's not distributed through TV, but it does have a medium that people will expect to see fairly regular updates from. Plus, with major companies backing it, there might be some need to keep a deadline.

So the collaboration isn't about cars... but ASTRONOMY?!?!
< Sucker for Astronomy < See Yui Makino on VA list DEFINITELY ANTICIPATING THIS TITLE Although I just realized that Subaru's logo is made out of stars on a blue background, which is a truly subtle way to foreshadow the anime's theme without being obvious

Trailer looks interesting, character designs look ho-hum and like something out of a dating sim adaptation girlfriend breakdown. I sure hope this actually is a show about astronomy and the wonders of stargazing and not a feint for some sort of touchy-feely "slice of life" tilt like the character designs are scaring me into possibly thinking.
Since it's Gainax I'm going to assume the former and hope I'm right. They've been known to merge the cutesiest of character designs with some damn likable characters in imaginative series after all so I'm hoping for the equivalent of Diebuster, but damn if they don't look blobby in spite of it all. |

There are some obvious misunderstandings going here. The main topic of this series will be 'car', in some other ways or another. (actually, already it is...Name of the character is freakin 'SUBARU'.)
According to the interview, purpose of this anime is 'ENTIRELY' on stimulating people's interest on cars and promoting sales of private vehicle which is declining over years, due to the use of public transportation. In past Japan, there were various of people who were specialised their interest in cars; 'Aka 'CAR otaku', but due to financial depressions those people disappeared. So, they are trying to excavate those disappeared interest again using popular media such as anime.
