Well the first thing I am going to say is that Sumeragi's bust are freaking huge! Aside that overall I thought it was good episode, new character Ali, who I thought was Patrick, is a nice addition, since we now have someone who's connected to Setsuna's past. Poor Patrick, who now have become nothing more then a joke as a pilot and will probably get owned over and over. And the damn AUE seems to be doing something now and the story is finally seem to be picking up. Also Dynames with his new shield looks so awesome reminds me little bit of Deathscythe Hell Custom.

I think the similarities are more circumstantial than anything else. Although the sniper support was well picked out, except I don't think Lockon is a perv....
stylistically the two series are very different. FMP had a more varied balance, while Gundam is still very orientated towards the politics/relations/action side of things and less the comedy |

Couldn't help but laughed when Graham noted, "Looks like we have no choice but to back off this time and leave it to the AEU's ace"
Though this episode really shows where the AEU stands with the Union and HRL. Not only are they falling behind space elevator's development but also in colony development and so forth. The fact they have to rely on private military contractors shows the kind of situation they are in. The way the AEU leaders discussed their plans, I'm thinking the Union and HRL work in the same way (All member nations in a union) but instead of having several leaders each has a de facto leader at the top that pretty much holds the power. |

As far as I see, Setsuna and Sousuke are completely two different types of character, Sousuke is a well-disciplined soldier who treats AS as mere weapons and actually feels uneasy when his weapon goes a bit unpredictable, while Setsuna looks to be all over his precious Gundam already Sousuke would be more like Sergei, who will not hesitate to sacrifice an arm of his AS to get tactical advantage, while Setsuna goes mad when anyone else touches his precious Exia. Quote:
Exia didn't lose any arm in the preview, it's just the arm becomes distorted due to the direction of view. |

First thing I noticed is a drastic decrease in animation quality, but thats a common practice in lengthy productions.
I am told our 'queen' is Middle-Eastern, although she appears to be anything but. She looks like a stereotypical Chinese character, and she has that Japanese fashion sense, which made her look like a Japanese department store elevator operator. And whats up with the lack of VTOL?! Isn't this supposed to be 2xxx <--(insert very large number here)? Then we have Mr. Beauty-boy here dishing out Freedom Rainbow Gun 1/2? Heh~ - Tak Last edited by Tak; 2007-11-12 at 00:33. |

LOL @ Sumeragi. Definitely the apropriate way to dress for a high stakes mission. Silly fanservice this early... *sigh*
Setsuna has no personality, all he does is mutter one-word sentences about everything he comes across. "Gundam...", "Exia...", "Celestial Being..." I thought he'd be interesting at first because of "I am Gundam" and "Don't touch me" but now he's just dull. And who the hell was that blonde guy with some other guy that showed up for like 5 seconds? This series way waaay too many characters. They should start killing some. |

Well, most likely Setsuna will change as the series goes on and how much he changes and how he changes will be one of the interesting developments in the series. No way the producers will let him be exactly the same til the end.
As for the mercenary ace... I'm assuming he's there to take the role of the rather pathetic ace of the AEU.

I got the impression that the rapid slash from the knife would've created a small vacuum; it wouldn't displace enough air to cause those clouds to dissipate, but hey, throw in some nonsense about GN particles and we're good to go.

Ali >= Graham in terms of coolness. I wonder who's the better pilot? Last edited by Bocca; 2007-11-12 at 01:18. |

Ali.
Aside from Sergei, he's the only other pilot that was able to score any hit or damage on Exia in their first engagement. Ali literally had Exia on the run. Plus, this guy is a mercenary whose probably fought all of his life so he's right up there with Sergei in experience. |

Hmm... It's hard to figure out how what to say about this episode. It predictably followed the same structure as the previous episodes and nothing particularly interesting happened. Still, a few interesting bits of background information came up, and for the first time, we saw a scene with decent (maybe even good) dialogue. Onto the points:
- The show is still in exposition mode. I don't imagine that it will make a transition to plot development until Marina meets up with Setsuna. This probably won't happen any time soon, so it'll be a while before we get to the point. - The AEU seems to be a much looser federation than the other blocs. Its government is made up of representatives of individual nations who will still look to their own priorities ahead of those of the AEU itself. I'm curious as to what countries are represented by the council - it's almost certain that France is one of them, and I'd imagine the others are rest of the European members of the G8. - It's confirmed that the AEU is behind the other power blocs in space development and other technological areas. - I'm rather surprised that we still don't really know anything about Celestial Being - the longer this drags on the more difficult it's going to be to dig out of writing-wise. - On the face of it, there doesn't seem to be much rhyme nor reason to the intervention in Moralia. Joint military exercises are nothing out of the ordinary, and the AEU-Moralia one doesn't seem to be particularly large. - Sumeragi knows Billy - this is the closest that we've gotten to learning stuff about Celestial Being. Even when they travel to Liu Mei's hideout, we still don't know anything: who's the leader, or are their chains of command totally different? - The thing with people-looking-at-a-TV-screen-while-saying-"profound"-things rears its ugly head again. - The ability of GN particles to disrupt communications seems to be highly inconsistent. - Patrick is Gundam 00's version of Mashymre. On another note, Gurren Lagann did have some fun alien galaxies throwing action, but that surely doesn't have anything to do with "because they all look small down below" |
